I found out a about a feature in an AMG thread that works on our cars too

I was reading through a thread in an AMG forum and learned, on W203s, that if you hold the unlock and lock button on your key an aim it toward the black sensor on the driver door, the windows and sunroff will open and close accordingly. I had to uninstall a block for this feature on my Passat. Anyway, I didn't know the new C could do it and I 'm glad I found out. I must have missed it in the manual.

My salesman pointed that out when we were going over it at delivery, its probably something they are supposed to tell you about and some either forget or just over look it.

I was in a hurry when I got the car so the salesman just programmed my bluetooth while filled out paperwork and I was off. I never really thought to check because, eventhough I activated it in my Passat, I never used it
Anyway, I thought I'd post the info in case there are others like me that don't pay attention in class.

Thats what those small black squares on your door handle are for. That is the sensor that allows this function to happen. If you noticed you have to aim the key in the general direction of that square and hold or it will stop rolling your windows and sunroof.

I knew about the feature from reading it in the manual, but I couldn't figure out how to make it work. I got it now. I guess it was all in the sensor. I had this feature in my 3 series BMW, but it didn't engage as quickly as it does in the C class.

Thanks Derspeed for bringing this up!

Prior to model year 2005, both doors had the sensor.

another amazing feature

another nice feature I learned about 2 years later on my car was with a 6-speed manual... if you put it in any gear..there is a set limit it will automatically drive at..

its nice for stop and go traffic....for example 1st gear 4 mph- 2nd gear 6-7 mph etc

It's odd. I tried it standing in fornt of the car and then had to meve to the driver side. My Passat has no sensors in the door handles and it it still works just like locking and unlocking the doors. I wonder why the C requires the sensor in the door handle.

BTW, can I get a clear lense for that sensor? Joking.

I also notice that. I am so used to keeping my foot on the clutch in stop and go, but this feature makes it more like an automatic.

It's a great feature, however, i used to own a Renault Megane, and it had a better version. Double click the (lock) button on the remote closed all windows and sun roof. Which is great because when u leave the car u just double click and leave.. all close. this you have to point and aim and wait.

Just so you guys know, part of this feature will be eliminated in 2009 models. Due to government regulations, you will be able to roll down the windows, but not roll them up with the key. It has something to do with the "pinch" feature when the windows are rolling up.

Wow. Interesting, which almost makes it silly to keep it at all cause the roll up is much more useful IMHO.

I think the MB version is abysmal. I find that you have to vitually stand next to car or have a sniper kit handy to line up the reciever on the door handle.

Most other german cars, you can just use the remote control from any distance to roll down or roll up the windows.
