With the polycarbonate headlight covers, I'm curious why you'd install a kit like this. Now the fog lights, that's a different matter entirely.

I've had many cars with clear polycarbonate lenses...after seeing what debris did to my E38 740, E39 525 and a E60 525 (all without headlight protection) I started using it with my E46 M3, Audi A4 and now my C300.
In short, rocks put so many pits in the lenses that it no longer looked clear. It actually looked hazed after a while. I figure, for $50-60 it was well worth the protection. 3-4 years from now, when the films are pitted I can buy another set of films instead of replacing the entire headlight assembly (you cant buy just the lenses...you have to purchase the entire assembly!)
In short, rocks put so many pits in the lenses that it no longer looked clear. It actually looked hazed after a while. I figure, for $50-60 it was well worth the protection. 3-4 years from now, when the films are pitted I can buy another set of films instead of replacing the entire headlight assembly (you cant buy just the lenses...you have to purchase the entire assembly!)

I have used the x-pel kit in the past and plan to do so again. Is it still .40 mils thick?
For the doubters, it is absolutely worth it. My former 2003 Passat has 64,000 miles on it and the headlights look new (my girlfriend now owns it). The fogs actually burned holes half way through the stuff though.

Makes sense. I had an old 95 Passat with the plastic headlights and the lenses hazed terribly. Wasn't stone pits though. I think it was UV or oxidation. I have a clear bra and am looking at covers for the fogs. I'll have to look at the H/L covers as well.
