HID Install on C300

I got a pair of 55w H7 6000k HID's and got them to work perfectly fine. My question is the cap that seals the bulb in would i need to drill holes into the cap to run the wires through? or is there another alternative?

Anyone else install HID's on a non Bi-Xenon C300?

I hope my question makes sense. Its the cap where you have to twist off to get to the bulb. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You will have to drill holes in the cap.

drill a 1" hole on each of the caps and use the supply grommets to seal the holes

I didn't drill holes, I trimmed the bottom of the cap with a file and ran the wires out thru there.

Stock seal provides a tight fit around the batteries and there is a tight seal, no humidity.

Thats a good idea too! I think i'd much rather just trim a small bit off the edges to fit the wires through. would water be able to leak in? or would the inside housing fog up?

I'll just try to run the wires through the trimmed edges and seal it back up with some kind of tape or liquid sealant. Thanks for the tip it never even came to mind to just trim around the edge. Thanks a bunch.

ohhhh thats pretty clean for the wire tuck. I work for an HID company so i'm trying them on my c300. I wasn't really keen on drilling a big hole through the cap to fit the gromet in as it was just to big of a hole just to get some wires through.

Thanks for the info everyone and nbturbos thanks a mil for the pics.

I live in SF, CA so its real foggy over here at times..just worried about condensation getting into the housing. But from the looks of the picture i shouldn't have a problem.

Thanks again!

I'f that's the case, I would recommend taking it to professionals to install.

If there is an electrical short then the dealer MAY use the HIDs as an excuse to void warranty. Never seen it happen though.

6000K kit, very little blue, almost like stock. The kit I used has a digital ballast so you don't need a special harness, it's plug and play and works great. $200 with a 1 year warranty (I got it locally, so it's an in-store warranty).

Don't remember the name of the kit, not home right now.

Question HID Kit from DDMTuning 55W 8000K with Error Cancellers

Hi guys. I just leased a new 09 C300 Sport (P1), and installed the 55W 8000K DDM Hit Kit using the error cancellers on my low beams.

The lights work fine and look great (only drove around for 10 mins), but I noticed that my ballasts get extremely hot. They get so hot that I can't even put my finger on them for a split second.

Is this normal? I'm afraid of what could happen if I drove for over an hour with the headlights on. Anybody else experiencing this?

That's pretty normal with the 55W. They get extremely hot but after consulting with DDM they said that everything should be fine.

I love the idea of trimming the bottom of the cap to run the wires through, I was originally planning on drilling a hole in the cap.

I am gonna post up pictures of the setup as soon as I get the chance. I found perfect locations to mount and secure the ballasts.

Does anyone know where the stock ballasts reside on a car w/ P2? I haven't done the upgrade yet, but would like to have as stealth of an install as possible if I do do it. They are usually attached to the underside of the headlight housings in other cars, but I'm just getting started w/ the w204.

Hey guys, got a quick question for you, I just received my DDM HID kit and wanted to install it today but something stopped me, I poped open the dust cap to remove the OEM bulb and noticed that the bulb socket has not a yellow and a black wire for the +/- which I expected to see but it has 2 black wires, one is a single and the other one has 2 wires, I don't know if all your cars have that too but I'm stuck because now I have no idea which is + and which is -, any help would be great, thanks in advance. BTW that wire tuck looks amazing.

I didn't know which one as + or - when I installed my DDM HID kit either. I just guessed and checked.

Haha guess ill try that, just didn't want anything frying or blowing up, did you have any issues with flickering or shutting off, I got the error code eliminators, hope they work, forgot to ask one more thing, stupid question I know but do I have to disconnect the battery when installing them? Thanks for the quick reply by the way.

I had the error cancellors and the HIDs worked perfectly first try.
And I didn't disconnect the battery when I did it, but the light switch was set to off.

Yea I figured the battery didn't need to be disconnected since nothing is getting connected to the battery unlike some other kits but wanted to double check, thanks a lot for your help, appreciate it.
