Q: 05 M3 wheels on Benzo C350??

Not quite sure if this is a stupid question or not. But I previously owned a 2005 M3 and I have these beautiful 19 inch HRE wheels just rotting away in the garage. I'm also thinking about purchasing a brand new C350 sport sedan and I was wondering if those BMW wheels would fit on the Benz? Any help fellas?

Lessee, what could go wrong.

Well, the most obvious thing is offset. Then, there are the wheel bolts, too long or too short or the thread pitch might be different than the MB's hubs. Or, the wheel bolt seating surface may well not match your MB bolts. If you were a member of MBCA you could read an article on this very question in the current issue of the STAR.

It's also possible that the TP sensors might not be usable.

That should be enough.

I'm pretty sure the wheels won't fit on the Benz as the bolt patterns are different between the 2 brands.

I'd do a test fit to find out. WOW, the C guys are pessimistic in here, huh?

I have seen some shops put BMW wheels on a Merc, so it can easily be done. The concerns become offset, getting the right bolts, etc. but that is normal. If I had a spare set of HREs, I'd give it a shot. You may also want to see how much HRE would charge to rebuild them (if 3 piece).

No they will not fit. As was mentioned earlier, BMW has 5 on 120 bolt pattern and MB is 5 on 112. The HRE are 3 piece wheels, so 2 parts make the hoop and 1 part makes the face. They would need the replace both parts of the hoop to correct the offset issue and the face to correct the lug pattern issue. Its a good thought but Craigslist might be a better idea for your HRE's...

Again, seen it done more than once. The offset may or may not even be an issue. Even then, you have some room to play (add spacers or shave the face).

I'd contact HRE. They have been great with others.
