Recommended Load Index for C300

Anyone know what the factory recommended load index is for the C300? Looking to get new tires, what range would be acceptable?

See page 470 of the owner's manual.

Since you seem to have the staggered 18" setup, the numbers appear to be 92-XL in front, and 94-XL in back [XL= Extral Load].

Technically, you should stay with the same as the OEMs. Realistically, it is just a way for you to compare tires and get the compound you like. Many manufacturers get the tire companies to make them a popular tire in an XL, so that they last longer and yet have the name or tread that enthusiasts want. P-cars have done this for years. Personally, I hate an XL (even on my E which is heavy). They do last, but they turn to bricks after about 5K miles and just stay like that. Now that I have moved over to the lighter load, my tires heat up much faster (I don't raise cane enough to blister them) and stay sticky, but only last aboyt 5K miles in the rear and 10K in the front.

Yeah, I drive alot on my cars and having high tread life is pretty important, but want to find a balance between that, performance, safety, and just straight looks. There were some tires that I found that I liked, but were just under the index, so was curious what +/- buffer I had on the factory recommendation so I knew what I could get away with. I heard you could go down a couple points as the index is pretty conservative, but dunno. Upgraded to IForged 19s, so need new tires. ThenI gotta sell the stock 18" AMGs.

You will be fine with shifting the index a bit. I do it all the time to balance the handling in my car or to add traction.

Are you just wanting the 18" tires for your stockers and don't care about performance? If so, then you will be fine with most. road noise is the biggest variable in tires. If you want more performance, consider the OEM tires from the C350 sport.

Well, I'm upping to 19". The tires I'm looking at are Toyo T1R, but they have a 91 rating. I don't think it'd be much of an issue going from 92 recommended to 91, but wasn't sure about going from 94 recommended rear to 91.
