Great news -- just got back from the dealership and my steering wheel is now PERFECTLY centered! Yay! Keep persisting folks, because this IS fixable. If for some reason they can only adjust it to be slightly right or slightly left, you may need an entire alignment job to correct it if there is no "in between" in the "notches" or whatever it is called.

So, persist and you can have a straight wheel!

Yeah, I've been saying all along that a competent alignment tech with the standard equipment should make short work of this. Still blown away by the sheer tonnage of BS that some of you had to go through to get this taken care of....

It's easier for lousy dealerships to wear the customer down, while pissing them off, than to do a simple adjustment.

There is NO reason for MB to ship product w/ the wheel off-center. Where did "German Engineering" go, Japan?

I have this issue as well. I had the dealer re do the alignment and it helpled but the car still pulls to the right, they centered the steering wheel, but still seems a little off. right now I have 5 psi more air in the front right tire to try and offset this. Still pulls. I should take it back in, but it's such a time consuming pain in the @#$

Evan, I've given this advice before, but TRY to talk to the tech who is actually going to do the work, and suggest he use a different caster setting on the side that is pulling. More caster on the pulling side should cure the problem.

This worked like a charm on our '02 W203 C240 that had the same problem.

For some reason, there is a reluctance to try anything that constitutes thinking "outside the box". The differential caster setting idea was the solution used by the tech at MB-Sacramento to solve my problem, but others have been told they can't or won't do it at some dealers. If you have to, find a good independent to do the alignment if the dealer refuses to do the right thing.

Like the offset steering wheel, pulling is another problem THAT CAN BE SOLVED. When the guy at Sacramento was done, the car tracked like a train, and the steering wheel was centered - end of story.

My dealer fixed my misaligned steering, but it was NOT a wheel alignment issue. They checked the actual wheel alignment and it was normal. It was directly at the steering rack, they had to align the rack itself. Hope that helps...maybe mention it to your dealer for those who still have the problem.

Thank you Guys

I will tell them I need to speak with the tech working on the car and tell him to look at both solutions.

Sorry to bring up old thread but can someone point me to what I need to adjust to correct my steering wheel. It's about 4 degrees off. Alignment is fine. Thank you.

UPDATE: Just took it to the dealer. It took them 2 tries to get it right.
