Its hurting my ear and kind of hazardous as well. So anyone with a secret code that can turn the volume down and set it in memory?
For the car with MM, turn the volume knob down when the phone is ringing. This adjusting method (adjust during sound is on), apply to all volume settings for nav volume, speaker ph volume etc,

Hi,

I have 2008 C300. For the longest time I was using a SE W810i with the car's bluetooth and the ringer was this annoying loud "riiiiiiing" which scared teh bejesus out of me every time, especially when playing loud music.

The other day, I lost my phone and used my girlsfriend's Moto K1 Razr and lo and behold, when I use the K1 Razr it actually plays the ring tone from the phone through the cars speakers rather the annoying "riiiiing".

This was great and I assumed it was because my W810i had bluetooth 2.0 without A2DP and the K1 Razr had bluetooth 1.2 WITH A2DP.

So I went and got a phone that was Bluetooth 2.0 WITH A2DP. (SE W580i)

I just tried it and I still get the annoying "riiiiing".

So I thoughy only a phone with Bluetooth 1.2 and A2DP is the solution.

But according to GSMarena.com, the N82 and 6301 by Nokia are both Blue tooth 2.0 with A2DP and No A2DP respectively. (those are the phones others in this thread have said plays the ring tones.)

Maybe it's a Sony Ericsson thing??? Anybody have tried any other phone that worked?

(Also, I made sure I tried using the same exact ringtone files on all three phones and all three phones were un-branded.)

I think that it has to do with a "handsfree profile" at least this was the case on my Nokia e71. When you connect via bluetooth it auto switches to a "handsfree profile" usually the ringtone is default but somtimes it is set to a certain ringtone which is a ring.

Interesting thought, I will try it and report.

Well it did not work. I tried also with a stereobluetooth headset that can receive music from the phonee but not ring tones.

on Benzworld.org, somebody suggested it's a SONY ERICSSON thing, which I think is the issue as well.

Anybody want to buy a SE W580i? LOL

Is there even more secret menu beyond Engineering Mode to enable NAV programming while driving? W203 did not block NAV contols while driving, but W204 does fit or some reason (why passenger cannot program it?).

Explain, are you talking about the panic button on the key?

Hold Lock/Unlock buttons on remote pointing to the driver's door - there is a small IR censor - it will open/close windows and roof

Um, yes, but don't try this from inside. The small square is on the driver's exterior door handle.

I tried this (lock/unlock for windows and sunroof) and it works great! Thanks for the great tip. This comes in handy on hot days here in San Diego (and MAN it has been hot this fall with high 80's even at the beach)...

Just tried to rip a CD to HDD (MB called this process RECORDING). Process is very slow (1 full CD takes about 30 minutes. HDD size in 2008 model is 4GB, each CD takes approximately 100MB on it. This is much less than uncompressed soundtracks (~600-800MB). Most likely MB uses MP3 or AAC to store sound tracks on the disk and sound quality may be affected. CD can be original or copy (I have not tested homemade compilations yet). HDD navigation is easy and controlled from COMAND screen.

Few more tips for CD ripping:
1. CD can be created from mp3 files. Use Nero Express to run as Audio Disk and fill in CD text fields (this fields will be used by COMAND to create folder names on HDD (Author->Album->Tracks).
2. Make sure CD surface is clean before ripping (no fingerprints!) - error correction takes time!
3. Use MUTE to accelerate ripping process (I've noticed ~30% time reduction per CD)

1. When the sun / Pano roof is left open on an extremely hot sunny day, the
car will automatically close it (tilt position) after a while ( when the car is
parked )

2. Again if the car is equipped with Sun/Pano roof as well as rain sensing
wipers, the car will again close (tilt position) the roof as soon as the sensors
detect rain ( when the car is parked )

does this work on US models also or just euro i have a 09 W204

2008 US model does not respond to high temperature for sure. And I do not have plans to take mine through the rain test

open her up and then take the garden hose and let water pour on the rain sensor and see if all will close, assuming it's the rain sensor, that triggers the closure

I would try this, but right now we have freezing temperatures, so it will be hard to try this....for the love of winter....lol

Since we are talking about the sun/pano roof alot, for those who have Keyless entry (such as Canada), You can also use ur finger to touch and hold the sensor on the door handle (not the infra red sensor) and it will close all windows.

I got one.
when you press the unlock button on the key, all four doors will unlock.
when u press the lock button, all four doors will lock simultaniously.

try holding the lock and unlock button on your key at the same time for around 50 seconds. a blink will appear. You dont have to point it at the
door sensor. Than try the unlock button again, only the driver side door will unlock. if you hit the unlock button again the remaining 3 doors will unlock.
to reset the whole thing just do the whole proccess all over again.

Here is another one.

All MB vehicles are equipped with safety feature that prevents windows to go up when you hand blocks it's path (try it - window will stop going up immediatelly). But then you have to re-sync window (otherwise it will not go up automatically)

Here is the process:
1. Close the door
2. Open the window (all way down)
3. Pull close button half-way (position 1 - manual close)) and hold it till window is fully closed
4. Hold it for 4 more seconds
This is it. Now window will work fine again!

I've shown many ppl this feature, and i've never had to re-sync the windows after. maybe its a region thing
