Did you try pressing your foot on the brake pedal? Cause my car requires me to press my brake pedal in order to start

Once again, a plea to IDENTIFY YOUR LOCATION, either in your signature or in the post.

Replies that involve various features that may or may not apply to a given market are useless if we don't know where you are!

On the original question, ask the dealer to check for a TSB on the ignition switch - I think there's one out there. It may or may not be your problem, but a place to start.

Left it overnight?

Why didn't you call MB Assist?

Whats the point? Apparently they charge for towing! My mother got stuck with her car not starting, called MB assist and they said she would be charged for towing the car in. She inquired and apparently all towing regardless of whether you are in warranty or not costs YOU money. They simply arrange it for you. So she called AAA and all was well, but needless to say - was not pleased with MB roadside ASSistance at all.

... to add to this, she got a follow up survey about her call to MB roadside and she gave them all 1's (out of 5's) and had a long discussion to see if it were true and sure enough, they confirmed on the phone that "Regardless of warranty, towing is not free". I'm sorry, but if my car breaks because of something covered under warranty, I expect a tow. And a donut. Period.

This made me laugh becuase my wife got so frustrated trying to start ours and it's because she was pressing the gas and not the brake.

In her defense, she rarely drives the C, and we have Keyless Go, so it's always something new when she uses it.

Anyway KuiDaCroat22 I hope you get yours sorted out.

There is a catch to this, the towing is free on a car that is still under warranty but only if its towed to the nearest MB Service Center. If you want it towed home its going to cost you to do so. I had to have a 2002 C class towed to the nearest dealership, it was free of charge, as was a loaner and they even picked up the hotel room and food for the day because I was more than 100 miles from home.

When was this though -- they may have in fact changes some of these rules because she called and wanted it towed to the nearest dealership and they said the towing company would charge you for it anyway...

Still not pleased.

Oh WTF!?!

I just signed up for owner's online hoping that they had the emergency services documented there, but I can't find anything. Time to break out the book.

If they really don't provide free towing, it's just going to be one more additional reason why my wife and I have become disillusioned with this car and the Merceds brand. We were conquest buyers from BMW/Audi and so far neither of us have had had any reason to be impressed.

Audi: more car for the money, same service (MB and Audi dealerships in my area are owned by the same parent).
BMW: great lease deals both in MF and free service; local dealer service is horrendous, styling on all models is pretty wack (subjective).
MB: impressions so far: corners cut while paying a premium for pointed star (no memory seats, squeeling vibrating mirrors, squeeling sunroof, blue smoke at startup, no child locks) and a service dept that refuses to be pro-active about investigating issues.

I agree, I want free towing under warranty too, but unless I read the book wrongly you pay the towing co., keep the bill and get reimbursed by MB. Going to talk with the dealer now though!

With all the MODs you have done, I would not leave my car behind, I heard the problem is in the computer easy fix as long the dealer has the module in stock, let us know what they find, good luck
