Tire Pressure sensor

I was rotating my tires this afternoon and when I removed one tire I saw there was a large bubble on the sidewall. As I rolled the tire I heard something banging around inside. I took the tire to a nearby tire store and had the tire removed from the rim. A gray sensor was rolling around inside and I could see it was broken. Can I just purchase a new sensor from Mercedes or do I have to buy 4. My second question is do they have to program it or does it program itself once I purchase a new tire and have it mounted. Any help would be appreciated.

I would think you could just replace the one. Wouldn't this be a warranty issue?

Yes you can replace 1 at a time. You can program the sensor from inside the car and no its not a warranty issue if you had an impact break to the tire.

Plan to spend approx 130 bucks.

Or you could buy the same one from Tire Rack for about 70 bucks.

Doesn't Mercedes cover tires for the first year? My dealership does.

self programmable, it works on frequencies. and u have to purchase from dealership, that i no of right now, i paid about $275 for all 4, when i put on aftermarket wheels, but in ur case sounds like a warranty issue. bad thing is that u removed from tire, instead of dealership, they can always say that u broke it, and do cover it. but i would still find out.

You DO NOT have to buy them from the dealer. I bought a set of four (identical to OE) from Tire Rack for my snow tire wheels (the originals) and the system works fine with them.

Model Number? Name?

Hey guys, I recently had a flat and I do hear something rolling around..took to the dealer, they want almost 400 dollars to replace the damn thing...

My question is: which model from which company is compatible with the stock system on a 08 c350?

I looked on tirerack, they have a couple of different kinds, but they all say that they cannot be used to replace an oem system...

Can anybody help me out? Thank you.

The person that repaired the tire snapped the sensor off and they should pay to replace it.

If your dealer is quoting $400 to replace it, they view you as a mark, easily swindled.

Can I remove the TPMS sensors off my 18s and attach them to my 19s that I will be putting on shortly, or do I have to buy a new set?

i would just buy a new set so you can have a set for each set of wheels. saves the time and hassle.

I plan on selling my set of 18s from my C63 though, so they are reusable then?

That is incorrect. It would be obvious if the sensor was damaged in dismounting the tire. As for the actual issue at hand if he heard something rolling around inside the tire, noticed a bubble, and it hadn't been dismounted at all yet that how can you be so quick to condemn the tire shop?

I've seen TPM sensors broken inside wheels EXACTLY like this. It ended up that the tire was internally damaged because of the sensor itself getting between the tire and wheel. And the that is where the $400 is coming from no doubt.

Someone above said that they bought a set of 4 that worked with the stock system...

Is there a single replacement that you can buy that will work with the stock system?
