Confused on C300/350 AMG rims

I was told that the 18" AMG FIVE spoke is a "option" but they are $1000. Why am I seeing pics of the 17" AMG SIX spoke rim on the C350 when I was told that its the 18" that is standard. AKA: the 350 can't be had with 17"s

6 spokes 17" is standard on the C350 sport. just looks better, but still is 17".

Sales guy said "yeah its kinda a rip" after I said to him "so the 350 only comes with the 18" but you have to pay for it as an option." I thought that sounded kinda strange. Anyway I got the car for 42k even, good deal?

um.... yeah, that's not bad. but i heard something as amazing as 40G for what you got. I pay about 37500 out the door, but i did not have any option at all (just the P1 that it already came with, which is exactly all what i want)

C300 comes with 17" non-AMG as standard, with 18" AMG five-spoke as a $1000 option.

C350 comes with 17" AMG six-spoke as standard, with 18" AMG five-spoke (same one on the C300) as a $1000 option.

Can't comment on C350 pricing. I have a C300. I paid $500 over invoice w/ options, with P1 thrown in for free (according to edmunds.com's calculations).

from my understanding is this

C350 - six spoke 17 in and 18 inch AMG are both standard
the difference in Canada is their tires
17 inch have all season tires
18 inch have summer tires
i think that's it

The US tires are also all-seasons for the 17" and summer for the 18".

Narky has it right. 18" is an option for both the 300 and 350, both come with 17" rims standard, the only difference is that the 350 comes with AMG alloy rims standard whereas the 300 have just basic rims.

The only reason to upgrade to the 18" rims if you order a 350 is if you just absolutely have to have 18" rims. There is little difference appearance-wise between the 2 (17's have 6-dual spokes and 18's have 5) and the tires that come on the 18's cost twice as much, last half as long, and are not all weather rated.

If I had gotten a 300 I would definately have sprung for the upgrade though because I can't stand the standard rims and the AMG rims are very nice IMO.

I beg to differ. I think they look very different. I like my AMG 18" wheels, but I really like the AMG 17". If that design had come in 18", I would've preferred to have that.

+1 on pretty much everything else you said.

Yeah, I'm with Narky. The 17" AMGs look great. Wish they were 18" as an optional option.

Accuracy

<<narky;2944310]C300 comes with 17" non-AMG as standard, with 18" AMG five-spoke as a $1000 option>>

You are talking about the C300 Sport and should say so since the C300 Lux offers one standard wheel with no options at any price.

Agreed.

And that's just stupid (the lack of optional wheels on the Lux).

I forgot we have a worldwide thread here.

So, it sounds like in USA you can get the 17" six spoke on the 350 as standard. That does not match what sales guy said that the 18" five spoke is the standard but cost 1,000.

Lies! How could a "standard" item cost $1000? Standard options are generally free, included in the purchase price. Sounds like your sales guy isn't the most honest person. You sure you want to be dealing with such an upstanding guy?

There are two possibilities here. He is either the typical uninformed salesman, or he is a damned liar. Could be both, of course.

Speaking of worldwide threads, it would be helpful if everyone added their place of residence to their avatars for obvious reasons.

I now can't say for sure since I know what he said but now you all have given me the gospel. I do not feel like he's shady at all, actually has been the best, most level headed sales person I have EVER bought from. On a side note, I went to look a the car since its in, noticed no ipod kit, he looked and said "I'll have it done and ready for you at my expense." So, if that holds up, I will just write this off as a miscommunication.

You're probably right. Honest mistakes are made, even by the best salespersons. Hope you get everything sorted out. You'll be happy when everything is finalized. Good luck.

Hello everyone. I'm new here (been lurking around for a couple of months though), and I must say, this is a great site loaded with invaluable info and experience. To chime in and maybe settle this issue if I may, I just bought a loaded to the hilt 08' C350 about 2 weeks ago. Rims are 17", 6-spoke AMG's. Would have never gone to the uglier 18" (IMHO) option. I am however looking for a REALLY nice set of 19's". Would prefer Benz only rims but Mandrus, Brabus, Carlsson and Renntech need to step up their game to compete with all of the aftermarket competition out there. Thanks for reading my 2 cents.

Hey Gedablaq

I am also in Chicago. I also just bought my C350 a few weeks ago. i totally order the 19" before I got my car and got rid of the 17" as soon they arrived. They are AMG replica wheels. But i thinkl the quality is just as good (since most of the OEM wheels are made in Taiwan now) and they are WAAAAAY cheaper. Here are a couple of pictures.

Hey yxc145. VERY NICE RIDE my man. Actually, I've seen those pics of your ride and have gone back to them quite often since first discovering the forum. Very classy, which is exactly what I'm after. I want to get mine a little more aggressive but not gaudy. I've been to quite a few Benz only tuning sites Brabus, Carlsson, Mandrus and Renntech during my research. As far as wheels are concerned, all of these manufacturers need to step up their game to compete with the sea of aftermarket competition out there (IMHO). Or maybe I'm just too picky. I'm really trying to stick to Benz only aftermarket upgrades (btw, I like the expressions sideskirts vs. the brabus). Also, C204 is a completely new platform. Being an ex tuner, I know the market can be kind of slow to jump on a new platform; supply and demand you know. I have a feeling that the C204 is going to set a record in the realm of Benz tuning, products offered, that is. It's a KILLER platform and I'm proud to be one of the first to own one. Your ride is beautiful and the rims and ride height are stellar. I strive to be worthy.

Geda

thank you for the compliment. I Unlike my E320(brabus body and wheels), I am not gonna do any body mod to the car. so with the AMG body, i want just the AMG wheels. i don't really want to use other aftermarket wheels which i do not do the body mod with. don't like to mix and match, if you know what i mean. But good luck!! if you want replica AMG wheels, i can tell you where i got mine.
