clear side markers

Hello everyone, i'm getting ready to buy clear side markers for my C300. There seems to be 2 different types of clear side markers. picture 1 is with a black trim inside of the lens around it and picture 2 is all clear from the inside. Look at the pictures below. I wanted to ask if you would to pick one, which one would you go with. Thanks

Side markers

I ordered both and decided to use the marker in the lower photograph. They just look and feel like a quality part compared to the other. The lens is more "crystal like" and the bulbs are also included.

huge thread on this already. most people went with #1 because they were available sooner, but everyone basically agrees that #2 is better quality.

In the eBay link above, the car in the picture belongs to a member of this forum, Derspeed. I believe the manufacturer worked with him in developing the part. He seems to be very happy with his. This unit is the lower, second picture of the two you posted.

Others who've installed the top, first unit have reported much satisfaction.

I personally would go for the bottom one. It looks nicer IMO. I think people are reporting that the top unit's glass is more opaque, or at least it diffracts (am I using this term correctly?) more light. The bottom's glass seems to be more clear.

I've received a few IMs from people who purchased the version pictured in the 1st photo and said they are cheap looking. I really like mine. They also come with the chrome bulbs. Either one beats the amber version.

I bought #1 and should arrive today. The reason is because they are $10 cheaper (including shipping) that's 20% difference. There is actually a 3rd one now. Which i think may be the same quality as the 2nd guy, but with the same price as the 1st guy.

I'm just ordering one now from derspeed's guy as the quality on those look alot better. If anything I can always order the smoked later on from the other guy and try them when I get bored of these after a while.

I so want to order the smoked ones but the white outline I see in the pics turns me off. I'll stick to the overlay I have on mine.

Nobody order clear markers yet!!!!!!!!!!!

I just finally got a Group Buy approved by a mod.

If you guy'll remember, I started a group buy organizing thread a while back, but it was deleted by a mod. Apparently, we have to go through the mods first before we can start one.

Well, now it's been finally approved (after a month or more................), so I'll get in contact with the manufacturer and get pricing on that. Hopefully we can at least save money on shipping or something. A dollar saved is better than none, right?

I'm gonna talk to Derspeed's clear marker guy. I think he even offered a group buy previously, in an email to Derspeed. Hang tight for details!

194 I believe. The stock bulb is actually white (although not a clear white white kind of white). The yellow/amber was caused by the lens and not the bulb. I picked up some polarg hyper whites, but they were like really really bright...especially for sidemarkers, so I had them chromed over to dull it a bit, but still keep the color. Came out nicely.

Ah k k. What about the chrome bulb from derspeed's guy? Are they pretty dim? Cause I don't really want the light to be bright at all. If anything, I would chose not to put the bulb at all but I'm sure it would cause errors and look wierd without the bulb in?

Mine aren't Der's marker so didn't come with bulb. Have to ask him or anyone who has his.

If you prefer not to have any bulb, then why don't you just take the stock lens, paint it with a black coat, then apply heavy white coats over it to blot out any light. also could paint the bulb black with heat resistant paint to further block any light.
