Ok so this maybe a stupid question but..

..well I have had my C350 for about two days now, and I love it. I have the P2 package along with the MM and I was told by the sales lady that if I was to sync my phone with the car it would read my text msg's. Now I was not able to get my Iphone to sync to the car while I was at the dealership but I gave ti another go today and was able to make it work. Now when i get text the car dose not read them to me was this a mistake by the sales lady by telling me that there is sucha feature or am I jus tno using it right?

They lied. Our cars have no such feature.

I don't have mine yet, so can neither confirm nor deny this, however, I heard that you can copy music from an audio CD to the HD, but not MP3s. Having said that, I also heard that you can copy MP3s from the PCMCIA slot to the HD. Not sure how to do either, but hopefully a helpful owner who has done this can shed some light for you.

Just put a CD in the drive and select record. I have yet to have it label the album or songs correctly.

I believe this is a feature of the system, just maybe not in the US. I saw a video over the weekend on YouTube where this feature was demonstrated. I can not recall the name of the video, but if you put in "C-class" or "W204" in the search bar on YouTube it should list all of the ones that are related to the car.
I think it was in Europe that the video was filmed in.

Could it be a misunderstranding? Maybe she said "the car will read the SMS" as in it will "read" it from your phone and display it on the MFD or central display?

I seem to remember that with certain phones (e.g. crackberry), this feature is enabled - but only with the HFP module, not "natively".

Why not drive on down and ask her to demonstrate?

oooh, yes! and then when she says "oh, you need the bluetooth HFP cradle, which is $400" you can state that you purchased the car on the understanding that it offered this feature, so she should throw the unit in as a measure of good will

In Europe . MB COMAND system has the ability to read text messages. I also get to hear any traffic messages in MB computer voice. It also has the option to enable/disable "read out traffic messages". Never tested the mobile text message system but i do not see why it would not work if the traffic messages can be read.

I agree. My salesman told me (in Australia) you need to buy the HFP module, which is a few hundred dollars more. I don't have this. My phone works well with bluetooth but I have to enter my own phone directory as it does not import from my phone, and it doens't do text message.

However once you enter your phone directroy, the linguatronic voice activation works beautifully!
