New 3 Series Set To Debut In Fall
http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...geGallery.aspx
Very mild update, but worth noting. Subtle ques on the outside such as new bumpers and a nice update to the interior with more wood and leather making it a bit more upscale than it used to be. Some new safety and electronic goodies it says as well. So a updated 3 and a new A4...looks like the C isn't the new kid on the block anymore, be nice to see how it fares this year.

Hmmm. Looks a tad better, especially the back. But eh no. Still doesn't do it for me. I look at the C, and I still go "DEEEEYAAAAAMMMN, that's HOT." But I look at the 3 sedan, and go, "Ho-hum. So... nice weather, eh?"
Now, the 3 coupe, on the other hand...
Are you rs1985?

mmm ... comparing it to my current 2006 E90, the changes are minor (exterior aesthetics are greatly improved - although not sure about that new bonnet line). I must admit though that to me at least, it does look better than the C.
Having said that, I still put an order for the C as the important parts (the interior where I spend a lot of time) was much nicer in the C than the 3 ...
Maybe in another 3 years, the cards will turn again ... hell in another 3 years, AUDI might make their A4 a RWD ...

The current 5-series though, is still a different story.

Hmm you must have some odd looking farm tractors to say the least.
Couldn't disagree more. Not trying to bash the C, however I'm not afraid to say that the BMW's interior is more atheistically pleasing and luxurious than the minimalistic C. Maybe it's because I've owned BMW products before...who knows. Flame on.

I agree that the BMW interior is looking a little nicer than the current C-class interior, but that outside, ughhh! The C-class beats it hands down.
The new taillights are looking much better, overall the rear is great, but the front hood with the extra bends/lines in the metal? Ughh! Lets just make it look like the new clamshell hood of a Chrysler! Ooops...
Fail.

I currently have an E90 (BMW 320i Exec) and maybe because of having sat in that interior for the last three years I now find it ... mundane? or maybe I'm just over it? I don't know.
I do know that three years ago, when having had to make this choice, I chose the BMW over the MB because the MB failed to meet that luxury expectation - it felt cheap, it had more grunt in the engine on paper - but you couldn't feel it, the dash looked like it was trying to replicate the interior of the SR-71 Stealth Bomber and the customer service of the dealers was atrocious .
The BMW on the other hand felt luxurious, it looked sporty, it sporty, the interior was simple and elegant, and the customer service was exemplary.
Three years later, I'm finding that MB's customer service improved by great margins, the new C class by even greater! The features are nicer, more functional and since I drive 40,000 Kilometres (25,000 Miles) a year - a more comfortable interior.
Will I have the same opinion in another three years? Who knows - I'm a swinging voter
Mind you, the world would be a very boring place if we all agreed on the one thing ... so share aloud!

hmm i had test drove both c230 and 325i sport before i made my decision
I would have to say that the C class interior did disappoint me a little when i first set in, abit more plastic feeling compare to the 3 series
the seats ... again bmw has the upper hand ( i test drove a 325 sport, they may have a sportier seat )
power wise both cars r slow
being both 2.5 litres is the most i can get in malaysia, anything more I will have to import or special request ($$ and time)
the 7G autobox is a funny combo with the slow engine; it just revs, but never goes lol
handling wise the 325i sport is really sweet, the steering wheel feels so responsive (again the sports package came with harder and lower suspension)
where as the c class feels lazy, the sports button improves it quite abit, but bmw wins
exterior, hands down, to the merc, the agressive front, the elegance, the muscular design, bmw would have to use E92 to compare the looks with the c, for a sedan design, its definately benz to me
anyhow i chose C because of the looks, the age(release age), the 7G autobox, the sport button, and its a benz

i dun like it
i like my E90
the first generation a lot more
something about this car
is just so weird, I love my bimmer because it got a lot of nice curves on the side rather than straight down
but I like the C class more
hahaha

A very modest refreshening, not much to be very noticable.
The restyled front bumper looks like it was melted, but the tail lights look nice.
The interior is still very boring and dated looking.
My vote is still on the C, but the upcoming redesigned A4 is very promising.

The refresh is done well. I like that they removed the "moustache" grilles and replaced them with the more conventional grilles. The taillamp treatment looks more aggressive too.
I don't like the extra ridges on the hood. Makes the car look too busy with too many lines.

iDrive has been around for a while. Not sure who did it first but MB is the first to perfect in the new C/S Class Command system.
