is showing the new CLC side view mirror on the c sedan... Although I think this is a photoshop in since the front page pix is exactly identical as before.

 

Yeah, each video clip of it driving around shows the regular mirrors but some of the stills show the CLC mirrors... I'm just not feeling those mirrors. I do like their interior w/ the cloth/leather combo though.

 

yea, i hear ya. I like the big housing too but i presume these slants one will solve the water vapors traps in the morning....

 

Its funny..I was dead set on thinking the C would get these new mirrors seeing how all the other new models were getting them..CLS..SLK..E...GLK..ect. But then the 2009 models rolled out and they had the same mirrors, what is curious is the C mirrors ended up on the ML and GL...maybe MB thinks the C is a truck.

 

All the new stuff will get bigger mirriors ( 20% bigger ) and as for the mirrors with the new turn signals. that is also on all the new stuff.

 

if you click on Konfiguration you will see those mirrors on every car. The question is can they be retrofitted to the '08s and would they come pre-painted. Or perhaps they have plastic shells in various body colors.

And then there is the co$t.

 

well, makes you kinda wonder why the USA's 09 version still has the 08 mirrors? Are we getting the left overs? or is it a marketing trick for another of 09.5?

 

+1....your on to something...new mirrors..new wheels...call it a refresh..make customers buy another one ha ha...sounds like Mercedes to me.

 

Well I should have mentioned that the MY09 car with a build date in july start to get the new mirror.

 

In europe any factory build car you order will get the new side view mirrors. They came out with a special C class build "blue efficiency " models. the C180 and the C220CDI i think.

From now on all new modules , regardless of the engine will have the new mirrors.

For us in europe if we need the old mirrors replaced with new that would cost 500 euros. These mirrors can be placed on the exsisting C modoles with no problem.

Information confirmed by the MB dealer. ( Maybe Valid only for Europe )


Personally I like the new ones not any better than the old ones. I have seen them in real life and they look more boxier than the old ones. The size of the mirror inside is the same it just if you look from the side the new mirror casing looks a but more fat and square. which is not better than the current. The only attractive thing is the signal lights. They look better though then the current.

 

Have seen the "NEW" mirrors also, last week. But it was not what i expected... The size is almost the same, and i dont know about the turn signals...

My dealer was suprised what i have done to my mirror to make them look smaller.

 

How did you do it? did you paint the upper part or its just a piece of plastic attached ?

 

Just a sticker... make it good clean and put it on...

You live in 020, i can make it for you and send it in an envelope....

how much are the stickers ?

 

I have paid € 5,00 for a piece, first made the outlines on a white paper, cut it out and lay it on the sticker, cut this out and stick it on.

 

Can you show us a pic?

 

I am now told that the mirrors come pre-painted so when ordering, your car's paint code will have to be supplied.

It's also possible that the new reduced size and shape was in response to the wind noise complaints.

I'm ready to order as soon as it's confirmed that the upper part will fit on the fixed portion. The other question will be, will they still fold?

The size is actually not that reduced. its almost the same. I have seen then in person side by side.

Yes they will fit on your existing new C and also they will fold in as well, depending you already had the option for fold ins. Here in Netherlands we had to buy extra option to get the fold in mirrors + auto Dim feature at night.

 

ouch and here i am complaining US has limited options... i feel ashamed.
