Headrest Popout
After being rear ended tonight, my headrests of the driver and passenger seats popped out. Why did this happen? Is it some kind of safety thing? How to reset or must it be done by an MB dealership, although the car is going to the dealer anyway...? Thanks

This happened to me when I was rear ended also, I assumed it was a safety thing.
The body shop that Mercedes sends your car to will take care of all of that.

There for a min I thought the poster was referring to the option of pulling the headrest forward..which is a normal function to help support your neck on long drives and you just push it back when your done using it. Thats a pretty cool video I didn't even realize that happens.

They are called, Active Front Head Restraints:
In case of a rear impact exceeding a preset threshold, the Active Front Head Restraints move forward and slightly upward, reducing the distance between the head restraint and the front-seat occupants' heads. This action helps limit the rearward travel of their heads, thus reducing the possibility or severity of whiplash-type neck injuries.
