It's counter-intuitive. I learned (long ago) to turn around in the seat and look out the rear window area directly as I was backing up. Probably most of us were taught that. Looking into the mirror (or nav system screen) just doesn't feel right when backing up.
Else, how wide-angle is the image? Would you be able to see the whole rear of the car? If it's only the middle area, or a tight area around the camera, then maybe it's not sufficient.
I like the image size on the mirror. It fits well with the normal scale of things there.

after seeing infinity's backup cam, if it isn't that, i don't want it. i'll just turn around for now. i do wish i had the backup beeping thing though.
