Headlights performance

Hello!
Im new here. I have being doing a little research on the forum because i have a question.

I live in Mexico and i have a W203 C230K which im going to trade for a W204. Just that the xenon headlights have a $6,000 USD price! We dont have like in USA different equipment options, only 3 models (classic, avantgarde, elegance). Honestly, 6000 USD for the xenon headlights its very expensive.. my question will be for those who have install a HID kit on a halogen headlight. How is the performance? The projector has a nice cutoff? How's glare? Can you help me with pics? The projector has no problems with the heat? I have heard that halogen projectors with hid kits have problems with burn crome, melted lenses, issues like that.

My mom will drive this car,she NEED xenon (hid or oem, but hid). Please help me to decide if its worth to pay 6,000 usd for he oem xenons.

Thanks

Save 6000 grand and buy some piaa or polarg bulbs. Take the 6G's and buy some nice set of rims.

I agree that with the 6k i can do a lot of mods to the benz, but my question will be again, how will be the performance of the headlights with hid bulbs?

I need xenon output, i dont care if its oem or a kit but i really need to have good headlights because i drive a lot on night so, its more about security. If the performance of halogen headlights is poor, i will spend the 6g's, thats why i want to know what to do!

I have a 6000k HID kit on my headlights. Cost $200 with the digital ballasts so its plug and play.

I could never go back to regular halogens after having HIDs in my passed 3 cars. Put them on second day I had the car.

Where did this $6000 figure come from? When I converted my '01 C320 from low-beam-only Xenon to Bi-Xenon I paid about $1200 for the two assemblies.

Admittedly, that was a few years back but prices haven't gone up THAT much.

In Mexico we dont have options, you buy the classic without, the avantgarde with or the elegance with. I dont want to buy the headlights and them change them because they might have warranty problems, so...

The difference between our classic and the avantgarde are 6000usd, and on the car are:
- 17" wheels instead of 16"... i dont care about the wheels, im thinking in 18 or 19".
- Another type of leather on seats, both are fine... almost the same
- Crome on foglights, on the low parts of the door and i dont remember where else.. again, its the same for me, i dont care.
- Aluminuim instead of wood on dashboard. Again the same.
- xenon headlights... thats what i want!!!

If mine had cost $6,000, I would not have them. I'd save the money.

Fer, same case over here in Malaysia... Talk about getting 'shafted'. We don't get options here either; just variants. Gotta love being in a marginalised market. The W204 here comes in one of 4 variants C200K Elegance, C200 Avant; C230 Avant, C230 Avant Advanced.

Having said that, all models here come with the xenon headlights; but then again, considering I paid like USD94,000 for a C230, you'd expect it to come with that creature comfort; nothing like the toothpasty white and the split-second warm-up glow.

Seems like you're concerned about the warranty; so I'd say, just plonk down the cash (seems like you can afford it anyway).

All said and done, it's all up to you. It's your car after all!

First of all I think USD 6000 is too much. Maybe you can check from other dealers for qoutation (or maybe those USD 6000 also include the cost of auto adjustment)

Do not purchased 3rd party XENON/HID cause you might have problem with the MB system. I think someone at this forum already experience some problem. Furthermore its very unsafety for other driver + in some country XENON without projector is dangerous.

Getting Xenon Headlamp is the best option and usually the dealer just need to reprogram your CAR Computer to change the 55Watts output to 35Watts output. Not sure about this but for BMW this is what you need to do.

Just info from my experience changing XENON on Euro. Japs is simply plug & play but not for Euro.
