Are we talking about different things?
You have a factory warranty and your unmodified TPMS system
is malfunctioning, right? Who says it isn't covered?

Two separate dealers have said the TPMS (error says that it is inoperative) is not covered. Additionally, I have read on the forum that people have heard similar things before.

how does the tire pressure monitor system work? does it warn you if your tires go down a certain pressure? or when it is already flat? im using the stock 17 inch that came with the car. never put air in it yet. what is the pressure? or should i just wait till i get a warning to put air in it?

What do you guys think? Is there a cheaper way to get this fixed up? Can't believe this isn't covered under warranty...
Why would it be covered by warranty when someone broke it off?

And, there is nothing in there to damage except air. Plus, when the wheel is rotating the broken sensor will be held to the outside by centrifugal force and will make the tire very out of balance. And when you slow down the sensor will fall to the bottom of the tire and start clunking along.

Again, my exact experience.

Was that tire dismounted by somebody or not?
