nitrogen filled tires
anybody have any experience with nitrogen instead of air in your tires. my dealer gave this option and I went for it. although i live in socal and not really affected with extreme changes in weather, they told me that it can help save on mpg because the tires will maintain max pressure regardless of temp thus keeping max contact with the road at all times. (or is it all BS?)

some tire manufacturers are starting to create Eco tires, which reduces excess friction from the tires to the ground, reducing excess gas consumption leading to a surplus in fuel economy.
Another way is by injecting Nitrogen into current tires.
nitrogen or N2 has a larger molecular compound compared to Oxygen or O2.
Over a period of time, O2 molecules start to escape from tires due to the tires being a porous material as well as the temperature of the surrounding environment, the process is called Oxidation (the browning effect). This leads to sluggish tire response, and decreased fuel economy.
Because N2 has a larger structure, it makes it more difficult to escape the tires.
The result would be a tire that could last longer by preventing or slowing Oxidation.
The tires will have a consistent amount of pressure, evenly distributing weight on all four wheels which leads to using less power, less consumption of gas, leading to increased fuel economy. because the tires are correctly inflated you will have a stable responsive handling.

Worth it?

So now tell me why going to 100% nitrogen is worth the cost. And BTW, even after deflation, there is still some "factory air" remaining in the tire so what do you actually end up with?
Your dealer relieved you of much money for this?

Air contains roughly 78% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.038% carbon dioxide, trace amounts of other gases, and a variable amount (average around 1%) of water vapor.

Cheap-ish
About ten grand less than I paid for my C300 Lux although mine has P2, MM, metallic and leather which adds about $8000. You did good.

Thanks, with my internet price qoute , I was able to help a co-worker get his 2008 c350 black on black, P2, pano, 18" AMG for @ $34,500 +tax and license. I basically got $5500 off factory invoice . Took me 2 weeks to get the best qoute from the dealers.

Here's an interesting read:
Is it better to fill your tires with nitrogen instead of air?

Not worth it. There's a scientific benefit and there's a real-world benefit...You won't notice any real-world benefit no matter how much scientific benefits they throw in their brochure.

The dealership inflated the tires on my 07 Avalanche when I bout it almost 2 years ago. I always check the TPMS (shows actual psi) and have only topped off twice and it was only 2-3 psi. I am satisfied.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

You will never notice the difference between N2 and just regular air on the street.
The "pressure" your dealer was talking about would only be applicable at temperature extremes. With dry N2 you have less water in it than conventional air you will find at the gas station. The water can exist as vapor or droplets hence pressure variation.
Less water = less pressure variation.
