Opinion on climate control

Just posting to say that the Merc's climate control is one of the best I have seen.
It seems to manage to distribute either cold or hot air evenly across the cabin.

Recently, I've been driving with my roof open and having the climate on in the "Auto" setting. Since day temperatures have been around the 13-15 °C on mornings, I would expect to drive like this to be a bit crazy but no, it's actually quite comfortable to feel a bit of cold air on top of your head (literally: no hair here ) and be warm on the rest of the body.

I'll try, my health permitting, to prolong the experience this fall when temperatures tend to be lower.

Anyone tried this on freezing temperatures (Canadian ?) ?

I haven't done as you described, but I've also been impressed with the climate control. Last winter I drove up a mountain, climate control was on 72-74 F. By the time I reached the top, didn't feel cold at all, still felt like a 72-74 day.

Then I reached outside, COLD!!! I never knew it though inside the car, and at the same time it had not dramatically cooked me or anything, just keep a room temperature air. It was neat.

I'm impressed by how fast it pumps out hot or cold air, from a cold start.

I agree it is one of the best. This is the fourth car I have owned with climate control and honestly the first one that I have actually used it in. The others always seemed to leave the car too hot, too cold or just too erratic in the fan and temp swings. Great job from Stuttgart!

Climate control

I run mine all the time and just ignore it. The temp inside stays about the same regardless of outside temps. This summer when some days reached 90 deg I like to turn the temps down to minimum, switching to manual control so that it blows coldest on high speed. That way, when I get back in the car, I can enjoy a blast of cold air. Of course, if there is a female in the car, this doesn't work. "I feel a draft. It's blowing on me. I'm too cold." Etc.

One of the other features that the 204 does not have that the 203 (and others) had is the "Rest" function, a feature available when the engine is off. Pushing the Rest button ran the fan on low and operated the auxiliary electric water pump to maintain flow through the heater core and keep the inside temp where it had been set. Does not run the engine driven AC compressor but keeps air flowing through in the summer to keep it cooler inside than without it.

It would operate for 30 minutes or until battery voltage dropped below a certain level or water temp dropped below a certain level, and then shut down automatically.

Vastly more useful than "tunnel mode".
