Did most of you guys install the VIM yourselves? I want that and the Backup cam, but I think it might be too expensive for me

MM package allows viewing of DVD's. I don't have an aftermarket VIM so I watch while parked. It isn't to bad screen wise and the time waiting passes much quicker with a DVD to watch.

You ever been to the mall...I get most of my movie watching just sitting in the mall parking lot.

I pickup a cinnamon sugar pretzel, a diet coke, and pop back in the car...so much more constructive than sitting and falling asleep on couch in the mall.

Was just curious. I know it is illegal to have a TV, Video or Motion Picture screen playing in view of the driver while moving. If there happens to be an accident and the invesitgation unit cracks open their laptop and plugs it into the Benz...it would likely be a pretty bad time for the driver. Not so much the tickets but the liability of surely getting sued by everyone else involved...even if not at fault...kinda like drinking and driving...even if it was not your fault, you are basically toast.

As AMGFan said I go get a snack and something to drink while the Wife shops. Relax and watch a DVD much better than either trying to find a place to sit without some strange person sitting next to me or acting as a pack mule for my Wife.

Maybe it's just me, but .....

I get this vision of you guys sitting in a mall parking lot somewhere watching the dvd player while your friend/spouse/etc goes shopping. You're just sitting there, absorbed in your own world watching some movie. That makes you a target. Hm. Carjacking target, no?

Why you do that?

God I hate being a "pack mule"...we went to NYC in Soho and garment district and that was all I was. I must have eaten 3 soft pretzels on the sidewalk while she shopped.

I do have a concealed weapon license, lock my door, and keep the car running. Also, the malls my wifey go to are all the high end malls (which sucks for my credit card) so security seems to be better (security guards driving around and security cameras all over the place), so I'm not too worried about getting jacked.

There is always that chance but I choose not to worry about it...

One thing about your jeep, no need to hide the wiring but just run it over the top and fasten it down with lots of duct tape. You might also think about a periscope like a WW2 German sub.

I am definitely gonna watch that shootout scene in HEAT in my car. LOUD!

Oh, crap--I hope the system isn't region coded. I live in region 2 (Japan), but most of my DVDs are region 1 (USA). I guess I'll find out. (I have a region-free player in my living room.)

YOu can change the region settings of your DVD of car upto 5 times. Its in the secret menu of COMAND. I am not 100% sure which option I saw that but i know for sure its there. so you can change it to region 1 to play US DVDs
