I installed the euro plate I had made. It covers up a section of my bumper where some idiot rammed a shopping cart into it. I didn't want another claim on my insurance (already had the mirror incident) and it was going to cost a small fortune to replace the bumper myself.

You betcha it's on there. The cops here have pulled me over for being a foreigner in a benz. No joke. I wasn't even driving, my (Japanese) wife was. They said they were checking to see if I had stolen it, since I was a foreigner.
I don't need to give them any excuses to ticket me or maybe even arrest me. (Doesn't keep me from speeding, though. )

not to stereotype...but japanese is probably not on the list of minorities to watch out for.
they probably had a report for a stolen vehicle with the same make and model and color.

Perhaps I should clarify. I'm a 5' 11', blond, blue-eyed, American man living in Nagoya, Japan and driving with a Japanese driver's license. They talk about racial profiling back home, but GEEZ, they take it to the extreme over here. (You can see in my profile that I drive some relatively nice vehicles.)
Oh, yeah--the cops said that there hadn't been any stolen Benzes reported, they just wanted to check me out. I've been questioned while waiting for arrivals at the airport and friends get stopped on their bicycles all the time.
Sorry.

Nope. I figure if it get a ticket, THEN I'll think about it. After all, sign off is only $20-30. Figure that's a small price to pay for vanity.....for as long as it lasts.

I recently took it off, but will probably put it back on soon. It's a moving-violation (giving them the right to pull you over for it) and they can give you a parking ticket for it as well.
Not really worth it.

I know it looks nice without it but sometime I think it helps in that when you have to parallel park around here, you are at least protected in the front by the plate I know some of you know what I am talking about! I've seen people play bumper car out here

Neither vehicle (C300 or Z4) carries the front plate, although the state in whihc I live mandates a front plate. The plates are in the seatback pocket. Z4 has been running without plate for about 3 years...local police, county mounties and staties all look at it and keep going. No hassles with anyone on the C300 (6 months).
In my neck of the woods, most law enforcement types are focused on drunk driving and really excessive speed.

I've said it before: the whole thing about the front plate causing the car to look bad is a design fault. Car makers should be aware by now that many jurisdictions require front plates. It's been what, 100 years or so? If the designer did the whole job, then none of us would have any beef with putting the plate on.
