Hello All,
I just bought a new C180, W204. I also bought a Mercedes child seat with the transponders to turn off the airbag when the seat is placed in the front passenger seat. It's a rear facing one.
On installing the car seat, we realised that the car isn't fitted with AKSE so it doesn't recognise the car seat. It is possible to have this retrofitted? I checked the MB site and spec for the C180 and I see that it's an optional extra.....
We're really disappointed...the dealer messed us around here...
Hope someone has an idea...
thanks,
AJ

2008 C-350 Palladium Silver and MM.
My recomendation is a simple one, put the car seat in the back. I would also recomend a sturdy seat cover to protect the seat itself. You might also consider a seat protector for the back of the front seat for when the baby gets a little bigger and will kick the seat with dirty shoes.

Where are you from? The transponder probably doesn't work because most new cars have an auto detect for an under weight front passenger - watch your dash as you start the car, a light probably comes on saying "no passenger seatbag" (or similar) when the passenger seat is empty. The MB seat is a hang-over from earlier days.
Either way, I agree with the other posters - the kiddy should be in the back seat, using the LATCH system, preferably in the middle.
