just strip a part of the power wire that illuminates the gear indicators and patch the shifter wire to that. Wrap with electrical tape. Done.

Hmmm may be its a US thing, i dont have it.
When i have some time i will pull off the shift knob and look if there is a possibility to make it work on my EU car.
Dont want to have it for the shift knob, but i want the lights near my shift knob to... that says prnd

I thought you were talking about something else. It shouldn't matter if its manual or auto actually. You need to twist the locking ring counter-clockwise (that worked for me) about 1/8th a turn and you should be able to ease the shifter off the metal shaft.. You need to get the leather boot off the shifter by pushing all the plastic clips towards the centre and separate the lower locking ring from the top of the shifter. It's pretty straightforward after you get the shifter off.

Hello Mr. Enigman, got that part right, what i need to know is how to get to the wires to tap into them for the shift knob light. It looks like the console is pretty tight, has anyone in the forum found the place or the way to get to a power source without taking everything apart.
thanks to all again.
