just strip a part of the power wire that illuminates the gear indicators and patch the shifter wire to that. Wrap with electrical tape. Done.

You might have to tap into the power that goes to your command knob or find a power lead further up by your center console then.

I installed my Brabus shifter today on my Manual w204. I've yet to hook it up to the power supply but there are some power cables that you can use for the illumination under the gear shift console. I'm going to get some scotch locks (image: http://i6.ebayimg.com/05/i/000/b9/2d/f820_2.JPG) so I don't have to splice & secure with electrical tape.

I thought you were talking about something else. It shouldn't matter if its manual or auto actually. You need to twist the locking ring counter-clockwise (that worked for me) about 1/8th a turn and you should be able to ease the shifter off the metal shaft.. You need to get the leather boot off the shifter by pushing all the plastic clips towards the centre and separate the lower locking ring from the top of the shifter. It's pretty straightforward after you get the shifter off.

Hello Mr. Enigman, got that part right, what i need to know is how to get to the wires to tap into them for the shift knob light. It looks like the console is pretty tight, has anyone in the forum found the place or the way to get to a power source without taking everything apart.

thanks to all again.

I have a manual so I'm thinking about tapping into the 12V supply in the cig lighter area. I'm not sure about the auto I'm afraid.
