Received VIN # today

I received my VIN# today, with a delivery date of 1 Dec; does anyone know how long it actually takes to build? Also can anyone answer why the navigation does not work in Germany?

I would assume you would have to buy and load the German/Western Europe maps to have the Nav work there.

You will find this out at Sindelfingen when you do the tour, once you have your VIN your car is completed already. That is the last step. The last thing you are waiting on is AMSTO approval and MBUSA to approve release. you might be able to pick up before the 1st of Dec if they do all their stuff quickly and they have all the paperwork and money and everything.

The Nav problem is MBUSA being dumb and not wanting to have the german maps adapted for the US Spec Comand system. I wish they would fix this as well but their reply is it is a working issue.

Just an an adder to these comments, I picked up my C350W in Sindelfingen this past September 8th and MB provided a loaner windshield mount MB/Garmin GPS unit for use during my Black Forest/Alps rally trip. This GPS unit was a life-saver as the maps we prepared (and were given by MB) would not have been adequate. You just leave the unit in the glove box and the shipping agent sends it back to Sindelfingen for reuse.

For US owners yes, just subscribe to startek:
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w211/219751-free-access-mbusa-parts-catalog.html

Others have to pay for the service.

The Russian site works for older cars, you can always try.
