Thank you
Which Line of Zerex are you going to use ?
I do not see any recommendations for European vehicles let alone MB :-

You can buy it on line from Amazon :-

Can I ask you why you will not consider using recommended MB product?

Zerex G-05 Gold (yellow) Apparently its the same mix as the MB one, just not paying MB prices.

Any explaination as to why the Zerex G-05 linked to in the above refers to a 5 year service interval where the MB service interval is 15 years. That makes me think that they're not the same product. Any comments?

+1 on the year difference for 5 years vs 15 years...

Also, do all MB cars use the same coolant? My father has the official MB coolant for his 2003 SL 500, would this be safe to use in my 2009 c300 or should I get a different coolant? Thanks!

This is an old thread, but instead of making a new one and getting flamed for not searching on a thread about this issue, I decided to revive this one.

Last night I cold started my c-class in 50 degree Fahrenheit weather after it had been sitting for about 8 hours. I got the "Check Coolant Level" or "Coolant level low" message. I don't exactly remember what it said, but it said to refer to the owners manual. As I reached down to grab the manual and got it out, I looked back up and the message was gone.

I was a bit confused and thought to myself "wtf". So I searched into the vehicles system tab for the messages, and there are 0 messages. I am 100% sure I didn't clear the warning. Is it possible that it had gone away on its own. Either way, I am still going to check my coolant level. But could this be a sign of a faulty sensor and if my coolant level is good, is it safe to wait 1000 miles (about one month) before I go to the dealership to have it looked at. I am at 19,000 now and need service B in 1,000 more.

First things first......check the coolant level.

If it was me, if it didn't need coolant, I'd go ahead and take the car in. Last thing I'd want is to damage the engine and MB not wanting to honor the warranty saying that they found error codes that were ignored.

I never did get a response to this and thought I'd bring it up again.

Does anyone have an explaination as to the discrepancey in using an antifreeze rated for 5 years in a vehicle with a 15 year service interval?

Good advice Jim.
If any one is in doubt, use the Mercedes product. My 1 litre MB coolant container is going to last me 15 years at the present rate of use. ie a few oz a year.

You add an equal amount of demineralised water so you will have 2 litres of coolant .

With something as important as preventing internal corrosion on disimilar metals ie iron & aluminium , why take the risk for a few bucks.

We are talking about a Mercedes Benz, not a cast iron Chevy!!

The Zerex G-05 is, allegedly, what MB sources out. The difference, however, is owed to the silica pack in 15-year or 150,000-Km Cooling Systems. The antifreeze by itself is not the long lasting component in the MB combination. I've also read on the fora that some MB dealers have advised users to which they serviced the Coolant that they should now service again every 3 to 5 years.

Your best bet would be to call the MB 800 number and see what they tell you about this.
