Air-Recirculation Button
If you hold the air-recirculation button for 2 seconds, it will close all the windows and sunroof of your car and re-press it again to return them to the same position. Is this the new feature for 09? Wonders if we can get this update from the dealer?

That feature works on my 2004 C-240 but I can't get it to work on my 2008 C-350. I think it's called "tunnel mode".

Looks like the feature has been disabled from US cars. MB must have been afraid of their customers suing them from some mental pain from claustrophobia followed by closed windows and sunroof. You should start complaining about real issues only.
Now that more and more things are getting SCN coded, it may not be possible for the local workshop to activate the Euro mode.

Yep def. missing on US c300 4matic,
its MBUSA at their best again....
you know, there is no free lunch in this world, we pay much less than our Euro counterparts but you get what you paid for.

Yes but this feature does not cost anything in the car, on the contrary, it does add cost to have the option to disable it for the US market. You get what you pay for but in this case it is about indirect costs for MB that do not exist at other markets.

The function is not available for the North American delivered car simply to increase car's rating. More electronic means more chance of it breaking down, so to maintain its 5 star rating many electronic options have been disabled or not offered entirely.
It works on my German built 220CDI

PS. it does not work on many "German built" cars, I guess you were referring mainly to your car built for the German (European or ROW) market.

The argument sounds right but in this case there is no single transistor/wire/connector more on a car with this feature. I'm afraid it is more about the average owner (or even one far below the average) getting confused and then MBUSA requests the feature to be removed so that they do not get complaints (wasting their time but also appearing in consumer quality reports).

If you feel so, then why not. No, of course not, I just interpret MBUSA feeling so. I guess you can find one "below average" driver from the US and that is sufficient for MBUSA to ask MB to disable this and that feature to avoid confusion. I do not know the real reason but this interpretation isn't my invention, US owners have had this view, like on the W211 forum.

but ya, MBUSA makes funny decisions.... its like a conclave that makes all these decisions, even the dealers are baffled at the options on the cars.

So maybe one of you guys would know. Maybe tunnel mode is activated when you set the car to ROW rest of world in SAM? The car does not require extra hardware to use this feature. I'm sure just like my MKV GTI Mercedes activates certain features for certain markets although the hardware is all the same.
