Is there anyway to add the 09 hooded dash to existing 08s? I really like the style better than what came with the 08.
What would be involved?
Thanks in advance.

C350 4matic Obsidian Black
I post about this a couple of months ago dont remember which thread exactly though... and yeah mine was on order and its the hole instument cluster replacement. which cost around $1100 CAD. I've order it in october and it still hasn't arrive yet. The place where I order it from (Mb collision richmond) said that no one has order it before so they do not have a part number for it. My guy has to place an order with a 09 vin number in order to get the hooded guage.. well, so far I haven't heard from my guy yet but he said its already on order and mb in germany needs to create a part number for it. I have passed on that order due to other personal reasons but If anyone in the Vancouver or richmond area wants it, give me a shout or pm me. remember that cost is without installation. they need to remove all the instrument cluster in order to replace it.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

P.S. There is no other way to replace for the hooded guages other than replacing the hole instrument cluster.

Wife's car coming early next year, the old design suits my taste better, hopefully Euro cars have not been changed (204.089).
But it does not appear clear to me how the protective "glass" goes on the new one, does it still have one flat screen that needs to be cleaned or is cleaning more complicated?

Too bad we can't figure out how to swap displays without tearing something up in the process.

Seriously, the cluster just wont work on another car after it gets "locked". Only a new cluster can be installed to replace an old cluster.

Did your car come with codes 950 or 952?

As you say, 950 is the AMG sport package. I just picked up the codes from EPC but 950 is neither available at my place, EPC decodes it simply as "Sport package", perhaps it is available on some other market/country.

Do you think they do that because the actual milage is kept up with in the instrument cluster? This is to avoid putting a low milage cluster in a high milage car. At least with a new one, there is some control that tells that the milage isn't accurate.

You cannot even fool the mileage by putting in a new spare part. Then again, there are computer hackers that tend to find out ways to make at least the cluster readout look different from the real one. Looking at the other parts, including stored mileage figures for services helps identifying fraud.
