the infamous c63 diffuser
so i received the infamous 'scratched' diffuser today and was
more than excited with the way that it looked. i wanted to paint
it anyway because plastic black just doesn't look that great..
heres a painting diy to help those that struggle trying to paint
their own projects
800 grit sand paper and a dish scrubber.
scratched up pretty good, plastic pieces popping out of the diffuser, unevened and rough
sand all rough and uneven plastics down as smooth as possible
(unnecessary on this type of plastic to sand down with dish scrubber but i did it anyway very lightly to remove dust particles)
after, used microfiber cloth to remove remaining dust particles
air pippens ebay for 60 bucks
3 coats of black sandable primer, as even as possible
2 hours later, dried enough to touch
remaining uneven surfaces resanded to flat and smoother surface
after two more coats of primer (still wet, weather sucks right now in socal)
just waiting to dry, and then flat black coat x 3 and finished
after 1 full coat, let dry, re sand any uneven parts, then repaint final
2 coats and finished. hope this helps any beginning painters. i know
i couldve used the help when i started painting
anyway, thanks for the cheap price daniel.
by the way, anyone want a flat black lux grille?

the opening for the exhaust is much bigger than stock C350, does that look funny with the stock tips or do you need to change tips now? can you show pictures of how it looks, thanx

Looks good now you need quads to fill the space. Can you adjust the white balance on your camera and get some pics with truer colors. I think it looks great so far.

Don't take it the wrong way, the diffuser came out great (paint and install) I just never realized how much bigger the exhaust opening were compared to the stock C350, I just wanted to know if it looked weird? I always wondered why people would change the tips to the doubles along with the diffuser (I like the single myself) I guess the opening size is the reason. It looks good anyway.

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
I think a lot of people want the C63 diffuser because there are few quad tip options for the sport diffuser. I prefer single tip on each side as well. I also like the cleaner look of the sport diffuser. With that said, I am in the process of designing a dual tip set up for the sport diffuser. I am really struggling to keep the cost under control. I think I want to do an exhaust system, but maybe some folks would just want dual tips (using a y pipe) that can slide over the stock mufflers.
Anyway $100 was a steal and you did a good job on the paint.

no offense darkside, but i am awesome. my paint wont chip so easily, and if it did you wouldnt notice it (because of the love i put into painting it ), that is why id rather do my paint jobs than send them to a shop. my grille speaks for itself, 5000 miles on it, not a chip yet..
