Manually Locking the doors

Is there a way to lock the doors without the remote or key? I wanted to lock my doors today but didn't have my keys. The power switch won't do it and you can't physically push the pin down. I ended up opening the rear door, closing the driver door, reached forward and pressed the lock button on the drivers door, and then closed the rear door.
There has got to be a better way??

If you didn't have the keys, how did you unlock the car in the first place?

I had been doing a few things in the driveway and had the car unlocked most of the day. Seems like a real issue if for some reason you can't get the keys...not all that likely but certainly within reason.

Your way sounds like the only plausible way then.

I used to have an Acura that required you to pull the handle out all the way before it would allow you to manualy depress the lock. Think I will give that a try tomorrow just to see what happens...probably break something...

You did the right thing, it is intentional from MB (always been like that) that you cannot lock the door from the pin on the drivers door when the door is open, in order not to leave keys in (a non-KG car but even for a KG car if the key is not detected).

I don't think it helps pulling the handle, it should just push the door lock pin up like when the door is closed and locked (at least on Euro cars).
