Does any of you have the stationary preheating system from Webasto.
Did came with the car or is aftermarket.

How cold is it for you?

Looking at the German options, there is no option code 228 available. I have heard owners retrofitting one, not sure if it was a generic kit or one intended for the MB CAN-bus.

Which cars had this kit available? I'd love to take a look and see if it could be retrofitted to the W204 (or W203 for that matter).

At least 228 has been available for all W211 and all W221 cars. I can see a retrofit kit for the W203, I assume 228 has been available from the factory too. Cannot see any retrofit kit for the W204, at least not yet. An after market Webasto or Eberspächer would likely exist, even specifically intended for the MB CAN-bus, but I have not checked.

A device like this:
http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/showpost....1&postcount=11

Runs on fuel, heats your car without the engine running. Good for the engine and the driver when the car is parked outside and it is cold. Cold is relative, someone from California had one installed.

It comes with option code 228 from the factory, probably not available for US cars but in Europe it is one among any other option that you can pick up individually (we don't have options packages).

I'm guessing it's a engine block heater. They're pretty popular here in MN. You always see the outlet plug sticking out people's hoods in the winter.

ahh thx for your response, ya it would be nice for me since the winters here in canada get cold.

I also wish I had the feature where my car could maintain internal temp for 20 to 30 mins even after parked? Good for someone "waiting in the car" while i run a quick errand

Webasto is "wireless".

But you cannot use it more than 30 to 60 minutes, the car battery would run flat if it was used more. Using the "REST" heater and a webasto would allow the car interior kept at 20 degrees for about an hour without the car running (still the car battery limiting).

Wow, sounds like the old tech heaters have come a long way! Interesting option that might be worth looking in to when it's below zero.

A very popular retrofit among VW TDI drivers (the almighty Standheizung). Webasto OEMs this for MB and VW/Audi...
