Engine chirp

I noticed when i was standing outside of my car while the engine was on that my engine started making a chirping noise... its intermittent, but it is definatly a rhymithic chirping which will increase in frequency as i step on the gas.. im thinking its either a belt or a pully, anyone else have this? I cant hear it from the inside of the car... i guess its not THAT loud, but still odd..

Hey, Yea I heard it as well. Told the SA when I took my car in for the Service A. They noticed and and replaced the "Idler Pully". They said it was a common problem but easily fixable.

It's a pulley (a wheel, if you will) that guides a drive belt. The belt itself is driven by another pulley which has a lot of tension applied to it (it's pulled up snugger than snug against the belt), and the idler pulley can either be essentially free of tension, or have a little tension applied to it; it helps guide and support the belt itself by taking some of the flex out of the belt.
