Grinding sound when braking..

On my car, whenever I step on the brakes, I hear a slight grinding sound coming from the front. I also feel a grinding in the pedals also. It feels like its coming from the brake disc but I'm not sure. I had the brakes cleaned with brake cleaner but I haven't checked to see if they're still thick. Could they be worn out already or could there be another explanation as to why its grinding? It only started to happen after I did a hard brake on my car. Sounds like a "grrrr", metal on metal contact. Similar to that when you have rust on your discs but I did a quick glance and there doesn't seem to be any rust on my brake discs. Any help would be greatly appreciated as to why I'm getting the grinding and how can I eliminate it. My car is a C280 and I have cross-drilled stock brakes in front, it that would make a difference. This should be similar to the American version C300 package.

Could it be the wheel bearing?

Need more info. How How old and how many miles on the car and since your last brake job? Are these aftermarket rotors or OEM MB? Who did the brake job? Any vibration or pulling? Does the grinding sound appear to be steady or is it pulsing? Check for scaring on both sides of the rotor and for any chips that might have broken off the pads? What is the quality of the pads?

My car is a W204 C280 2007 model. Has about 16,500km mileage on it so its still pretty new. I bought the car second hand so I checked the history of the car and it says that the front rotors and pads have been replaced at the dealer with "customer supplied" parts. The "customer supplied" parts worries me a little as I have a feeling these could be aftermarket pads and rotors, though I'll still need to confirm that once I take the car to the shop to have the brakes checked. There aren't any vibrations and the car doesn't pull though. The grinding sound appears to be steady during the final stages of braking, right about when the car is coming to a stop. I haven't checked the rotors yet for scaring but I plan to do so as soon as I can. It's dark outside right now so I'll check in the morning. How would I check for scarring though? Just physically see if there are any lines on my rotors?

Also, if I do find out that my rotors and pads are aftermarket, would it be better if I were to swap them back to the OEM rotors and pads?

When I have to brake hard, I also here some sort of grinding or whirring sound from the front as the cars quickly coming to a stop. Theres no weird feeling in the pedal though. My car only has 7k miles but it's been doing it for a while. I'm not very concerned though.
