flat tire - can any tire shop repair it?

Had my first problem with the car tonight, a flat tire. I changed to the spare without too much difficulty. But with the TPMS sensors in the wheel, should I be concerned that any tire shop can repair it (it has a simple nail in it), or should I take it back to the dealer?

you mean, without dismounting the tire? I know they sell some special tools for that, with special self vulcanizing plugs, but I don't think this is what you get at pep boys.

Don't risk the tire by trying to plug it from the outside. You just do more damage that way, and it really is completely useless, not to mention you haven't even inspected the tires inner liner for damage or potential hazards or failures inside the tire. Have it either repaired at the dealership, or a qualfied tire shop that can prove they can handle servicing your TPMS equipped vehicle. Look for TPMS literature at the shop you go to (if not the dealership). And make sure the dealership actually follows RMA guidelines for proper tire repair (Rubber Manufacturer Association), and that they don't just plug the tire from the outside.
