Recommendations for an "all season" tire for 2008 C300 sport

Greetings,

Got a snow storm yesterday and my 2008 C300 sport was terrible driving in it, I have the AMG wheel option with the low profile continental tires, I discovered since then that they are considered a "summer" tire.
Would someone care to share some advice on what would be a good "all season" tire to replace them with, keeping the AMG wheels?

I would appreciate everyones feedback and opinion.

best regards

Gary

There are no all season tires.
Winter tires have specific wider channels, higher profiles and are made from softer rubber.
For summer there are normal tires with millions of designs, some of them suitable for rain/wet road like Uniroyal RainSport 2 225/45 ZR17 94Y, others offer better grip in dry conditions...
You should read for yourself a lot from Internet before deciding the best for you.

I have the base 17" wheel but my Michelin Pilot Sports performed really well this weekend. Much better than expected even with the traction control off...wanted to have a little fun in the snow.
Of course any summer tire is going to become hard as a rock in the snow and feel like you are skating. As long as you stick with all season tires, most anything should perform better in the snow than your summer tires.

If link doesnt work just go to tirerack.com and you can find all season tires that fit your car with AMG wheels. I will be doing the same once my summer ones need to be replaced. I did the same on Altima SE-R I had since it came with summer tires and it was a great improvement in the snow with all seasons.

Thanks

I did indeed visit Tirerack.com, great site, they list Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus, a high performance all season tire.
The reviews of this tire seem to fit my needs?

Thanks everyone.

Yokohama Advan S4, Pilot Sport A/S, Pirelli PZero Nero M&S. Those are all three good all season tires. Stay away from the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S....very noisy and rough tire.

W203 (sold), W204 (sold), W124
I would recommend the Bridgestone Potenza RE 960 AS Pole Position.
They run smooth and have great handling.

Thanks everyone

Thank you everyone for your valued opinions, it was greatly appreciated.

I believe I'll end up going with Michelins from everything I've read on the tirerack website and what everyone mentioned on here?

Thanks again!

C300 4Matic with 18in AMG's
I love my Eagle F1's on my 04 GTO RWD - they are great in to snow and summer. I don't think they are any noisier or rougher than the my OEM bridgestones.

how much snow do you get and what is your price range?

Since you don't have 4matic, I would strongly suggest a dedicated set of snow tires for the winter if you get snow. RWD is awful in the snow.
Tire Rack has a nice selection of reasonably priced wheels (many under $150/ea.) to mount your snow tires to.

Must have been the same storm that came up the east coast of the US this past weekend, we got anywhere from 6 to 10 inches in central virginia. My car with the AMG wheels and the continental contact 3's were terrible, I was lucky to make it home and almost had little to no traction in the snow, quite scary driving it in the snow too, believe me that will never happen to me again, this fall the Michelin all seasons go on, then I'll put the continentals up for sale, it will be a good deal for someone on here, matter of fact, if I got a good offer now on them, I'd sell them and purchase the Michelins now. The continentals have 3,500 miles on them at the moment, anyone care to make an offer?

I think you'd have to pay someone to take the continentals from you!

Try Pirelli Winter Sport for a good winter tire
