Installed new door pins today but have question

I replaced both front pins today with some chrome MB logo, golf tee style pins. The passenger side sits completely flush when locked, almost even too tight. I am a little worried the plunger mechanisim is not able to completely move down. If the door locks are working properly, should I worry about this for the long term?
For the driver side, the pin sticks up about 1/3 inch?? If I could split the difference between the two, I would be happy. Has anyone else noticed this or is this maybe an issue with just my lock plungers? It feels like both are screwed in properly.

Just back out the passanger side one so it matches the drivers side

That's too simple...
The plunger rod is not completely round. Kinda like a half round. Is that what causes the pins to feel like they "lock" with each turn when you are screwing them in? I suppose that allows you to back them out without them simply becoming lose?
