I've got some CF Fabric I was gonna wrap around that cheapy aluminum trim. I've heard mixed info about the ones on the door panel. Some say you can pop it off from the front, others say you have to open up the door assembly to pop it off from the rear. All the other parts I've got figured out already.

I can't wait to see this. I am glad you're going first. I was considering doing the same thing or possibly going with piano black.

I saw a buddy of mine who wrapped his 335 with this material. I loved it. I think it's more unique than regular CF due to the added texture to the touch.

Done right CF would look nice, but I dont think that the aluminum trims looks "cheap" .. I think the alu looks great, much nicer than the classic piano black or the elegance wood.

MWerks wrapped the aluminmum of a 135i with alcantara. I really like the look. They also installed a cool steering wheel.

BTW AZN, when you do this, can you post pics of the process for removing all of the trim? Thanks.

It's not cheap cheap, but still feels too plasticy for my taste.

Once I figure out the doors, I'll post a DIY. This is a really cheap mod as a yard of the stuff is only $35-40 and all you need is a yard to wrap all your pieces. You'll also need some Spray Adhesive (I'll be using 3M). Cut, spray, wrap, tuck.

For those who don't know what this stuff is, here are some pics.

So you can actually feel the texture of that CF cloth? Wouldn't you rather have it clear coated? It looks incredible.

They told me you have to open up the door assembly, but I've heard elsewhere that you don't need to do that. As of now, I'm going to side with Sonic on this, but was hoping it'd be easier.

Yes, you can feel the texture of the cloth, which I really like. Gives it a dry carbon look. It's also water/stain/crack resistant and allows the trim to breathe even better than leather. I've seen how it looks with a layer of clear, but didn't like the shine. I know one guy that's been going crazy with this stuff and wrapped his grille and center caps with it.

This material is awesome. I lined some fabric on my Z with this, including my shift boot. Can't wait to see pics!

you could get silver or black leather or vinyl with the embossed weave pattern.
I've used this material before and it really feel nice, very durable, and gives it a nice depth.
With leather or vinyl the material is thicker than fabric (like Alcantara or micro-suede), so tucking and trimming the material into the seams for a clean look would be harder to do without it bunching or wrinkling.

Mike, I think you may be able to pop it off from the front. It seems very doable. I can imagine having to pry certain parts but in my mind I see clips reaching inside of the door assembly. Probably a small thin screw driver may do the trick, otherwise if you removed the whole panel it may just be clips you could have pryed against. Good luck, let me know how you do it, I've been dying to paint the chrome trim.
