Hey guys,

Sure, the CLK is sweet. If you don't have one, you admire the other person who does...but do you envy them a little too? Whether you have a C Class or an E Class, do you see your next Mercedes as a CLK? Do you find an SL being more worthy of the extra payout? Or maybe you think, whatever my Merc is great as is. If you drive a CLK now or have driven one, how did you enjoy it?

What about the 2009 C350? The 3.5L engine on the new W204 chassis...

Regards,

Many years ago when I bought my 2000 CLK, I also test drove the E; I felt like the E was quite a bit "softer" of a drive with less feel for the road. I was looking for something with a sportier drive, so I wouldn't say that a CLK is necessarily "next" from an E - they are just different. A couple days ago I sat in the 2009 models but only drove a CLS; if I went on cockpit environment, I would still say the same - and E & CLK shouldn't be put sequentially - they still feel different. But, if you mean "next" in comparison to growing older; I would put the CLK as something you want when you're in your 20's and then the E when you're in your 30's. (Assuming you follow typical American adult-male-maturity-patterns - sorry maybe that's inappropriate to assume here.)

For years I've taken 1 or 2 passengers in the back of my CLK for less-than-one-hour rides, without complaints. (Also have fit THREE in the back - mind you two of them were 100-pound women). But, I'm always considerate and bring my driver's seat pretty far forward if someone's sitting behind me, ad I recommend the same to the front passenger.

While the SL has always had the hottest styling & ultimate driving experience in my opinion, my need/want to carry extra passengers regularly makes my owning an SL impractical, until I can afford TWO MB's!

I guess it is a moot thing now. The CLK is now history. Too bad, always liked that car, just couldn't afford it.
