Tires for 2008 C300 (18")

What are the best, and also most cost-efficient tires for the C300. I have the AMG 18" staggered wheels, which came with the Continental ContiSport tires. I have drive ~ 18,000 miles and tires are beginning to show wear and my service advisor told me I'll need to change them soon.

Anyone have any input? I don't want to overspend on tires, but at the same time don't want bad tires with poor ride quality, saftey issues, etc. I have been OK with the Continentals, but wondering if there are any better ones out there.

General Exclaim UHP are super cheap and have gotten good reviews.

Yokohama S. Drive are also good but a little more expensive.

www.tirerack.com is the best site for tire research

Your tire size is 225/40-18 from and 255/35-18 rear. Enter it and see whats the best!

you can go with 265/35/18 and 235/40/18 instead the 255/35/18 and 225/40/18 without problems. I am about to do this with the NITO INVO

I'll second the Yokohama S. Drive. Great grip in the dry and wet, and also pretty quiet. I have it on the E46 and E90 Bimmers and will swap out to these when the Continentals on the Benz wear out.

I will have to note that on the E46, these tires were louder than the H-Rated tires that came with the car (of course).

Check out Tirerack for reviews. They pretty much mirror my real-world experience.

Regards,
Paolo

I have Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics and love them. Had them on my last car and I would say that they're as good as, Yokohamas, Pilots, Pirellis etc but for a lot cheaper.

Roberto,

Wanted to know if you ended up going with the 265/35/18 in the rear? If so do you have the AMG 18's? Did they rub at all? I have a W204 with the 18 AMG's. They came stock with 255/35/18 but I just bought 265's. Dont want to mount if they rub.

Thanks

I like the Continentals. Is it the Conti Sport 3s? These are on my SLK. The wear is a bit fast, but they are also cheaper than some of the equal competitors.

I've just been a big fan of Contis lately.

I picked up the Michellin Pilot Sport A/S Plus since I needed All Seasons for Germany and they are nice in terms of looks and noise, and comfort. They break (traction loss, not braking) a little weird, but I'm assuming that's the A/S aspect of them. If I spin them from a stop they kinda clump and grind then gain traction instead of the smooth freespin then stick of a summer performance tire. I notice it especially during hard cornering when the car kinda shuffles and grinds around the corner instead of the typical smooth slide I'm used to. This characteristic may also contribute to the instances of cupping found on these tires.

EDIT: I would definitely recommend them if you need all weather, and there is a summer performance version as well that I would expect performs exceptionally well.
