All the parts needed for a COMAND (MM) retrofit:

Because if something goes wrong and they can attribute it to your modifications, then I would agree, that the issue will not be covered by warranty. However, if the issue is not attributed to the retrofit, for instance if your transaxle has an issue, a door hinge breaks while under warranty, I would imagine that MBZ will honor your warranty for any unassociated issues. Additionally, everyone who does mods like adding 3rd party HIDs, Chips, different tires, fog lights, air dams, etc, are at risk of this too. I tend to avoid anything that touches the engine, or the drive train, as that is where it really gets into high cost if you happen to have an issue and they find that you have done something to enhance your driving experience and it can be attributed to your modifications.
The retrofit parts and any issue associated with a retrofit, will probably not be covered by the factory warranty though, even if your dealer does them. I think this is probably the case even if MBZ agrees to change the equipment on your datacard. However, I guess if someone has the funds and wanted to push it, since we are all using Genuine Mercedes parts, there could be something to say in other forums and venues.

Yes you are correct, it will only void the warranty on the parts retrofitted and the parts involving them.
But over here the warranty will continue as normal if an authorized dealer has performed the install correctly and performed version coding.

Oh, that is very good, it is a little more strict in other markets.

Well I got the fan installed, MOST Ring properly configured, and the Code Versioning done and so I am finished a few more tweaks here and there but the system performs pretty well. Probably my next enhancement will be adding VIM (W/Front and back Cameras).

Yes I can definitely see how it is placed and later today I will get you pics. I was apparently looking right at the mounting holes and did not recognize them! Also the ducting is about 2 inches away from where I thought it to be. It is quite tight up in there. The Service Tech took a total of 6 hours to perform all the work I asked for:
Install Axial blower and Ducting
- [*]
- [*]
- [*]
Everything seems fine - I cleared the errors that popped up during the tech's work, in the Comand HU to see if any (espcially the ones I saw before the drop off at the dealer), would return - they did not - Yes I will keep checking
Sofar so good
I would strongly recommend that for anyone that does this, that they go and get the MOST Ring config, the SCN coding done, as it will clear up a lot of errors that are identiied by the Star diagnose after the retrofit - I saw a copy of the report and the MOST reconfig and SCN coding is definitely required or you could be looking at some future problems not only with the Comand HU but the speakers, the display, etc. My local dealer resolved all the errors that showed up. OBTW, Only a few macro level ones (error alerts) are visible in the Eng Menu

What you are seeing to the right of the lower steering column, is the bottom opening of part A2048321045 on the left of some of the tubing for part A2048320645, and the connector for the power harness to the Axial blower's electrical harness. The blower is a few inches behind that going away from you in the picture.
Yes it is definitely tight in there! and it is so small in the footwell.

I thought I had some before and after but I inadvertently pasted some other files over that folder. It looks like any factory install of the Comand with APS in the Instrument Panel

Well, i did verify that I can play Video, even though i heard that some of the early 2008's could not play video from a regular DVD - dunno if that is actually right. But here are a few pics.

Warranty, what is and what isn't.
I don't know where on the planet you are located, but being a long time good customer, a lot of updates etc. have been done to my past and present cars with never a bill seen.
It takes a while to build up a relationship (not one car) but eventually it pays off.
Showing some knowledge about the car and avoiding being a demanding SOB is also always appreciated. It's a two-way street and an owner has to overlook a few things from time to time.

RLE Uh, I really do not know where you are coming from with the attitide in your post here?
I did not reveal how many cars I bought from my local dealer, nor did I say I "demanded" they did anything, nor did I criticize the dealer. My local Dealer and a few others in the area get along with me quite well. I don't bug'em, and they answer my questions without any problems.
I would really like to know?

You need pretty much everything exept for the GPS antenna, but there is no reason why you shouldnt fit that as well when paying so much for the HU and screen.

I am trying to do a retrofit on my 09 4matic right now. When i sent the parts over to the dealer this is the response / prices I got....
Below are the prices your requested. The one part for the antenna clutch cable does not show to be for a us version car. Also the Operating unit does not show to be for a US version either. I looked up a 09 C and got the command number but it list nothing for what they are calling a clutch. Thank you and let me know if I can be of any more assistance.

Yes, good luck to you guys. I went through it about the same time Vic did his and I was so into it , i forgot to document what I did, so Vic's procedure is definitely the best. Vic's write-up lists all the parts you need an can order. There is also a parts thread by Vic, that shows all the parts. Again good luck.
BTW, Hello Vic!
