Actually the city is at about 2000+ but I am located in the NW section which is in the "foothills" of the Spring Mountains.

Probably rather poorly unless it has a knob to set for barometric pressure. And it doesn't.

It appears to report in 1000' increments. I had this feature on the S550 and it was down to the foot... recorded 2795' in my garage. In the C it is recording a flat 2900' Only checked it out on a short trip and it went down to 2800' as I descended down a slight grade.

i found mine in my 9/08 build 2009 C350

exact location for me was 7.7.10. for those who are having a hard time finding it, remember to scroll down to the next page, you cant just turn the knob, you have to actually move the entire knob down to get to the next page. :)

as for the elevation, mine does not read in 1000 increments. in fact, it says im 20 ft above see level, and so far is on a lower scale. im guessing once you reach a certain altitude, it switches scales

Not Yet for me, but I can copy and rip - until I get the update.

sameer13 04-25-2009 12:49 AM

Well Toronto is only 100 Metres ASL. Mine changes in increments of 50 metres at a time.

All info comes from GPS. Altitude, latitude, longitude and number of satilite seen shows below Nav map screen if you select geo info.

These last two pictures are of a side view camera option. Can someone please research this option and figure out what it does?
Also please let me know what you think!

There is a side view camera option in Japan.

It takes at least 3 satellites to provide a fix for a specific location on earth. This number indicates that the GPS system in the vehicle is "seeing" 8 of them which would provide great accuracy on your location.

C300Man 04-26-2009 04:20 PM

Mine is also grayed out 7.7.10. How do you all get an update at the dealer? When I called them to do an oil change and asked them about Nav/audio update they look at me like "What are you talking about" and did you get a letter in the mail or something? So what key words do I use when talking to them? thanks.

Not necessarily. For a hand-held altimeter that's true. For a GPS that is picking up 5 or more satellites, it's a simple computation, and fairly accurate.

joshg1001 04-27-2009 12:54 AM

actually the altitude isnt very accurate. for one, it doesnt change on an instant. if you drive up a hill, it doesnt increase and vice versa. and when i enter my garage, it shows different altitudes. i wonder what the refresh rate is.

Yes. 3 sats will give you a location fix. 4 or more will be able to get a 3D fix. I'm usually at 9 all them time  But still at sea level... Weird...

lx Raven xl 04-27-2009 06:55 AM

Mine sometimes says 12 satellites but still i have never noticed a reading on the altitude meter. Its always 0.

I should be below sea level . Amsterdam here . I get the readings in Meters. and it always says 0 meters even if i go uphill like a bridge or something or a small fly over.

Ask them to update your Comand HU with the latest software (Latest update for Comand) - they should know what that means. I was under the impression that at every major service (A or B) they should look for any software updates for your car? That is hwere it is normally done from what I gather form the forums and from what happened with my previous car.

And as you already know, you can update your NAV software yourself by buying the latest release of the NAV software on DVD from your dealer or from Navteq direct (http://www.navteq.com/).
