Tint %

Looking for opinions on which tint % to choose from. I narrowed it down to 35% front sides, 20% rear sides and 20% rear or 50% front side, 35% rear side and 35% rear. Basically where I live only the front is regulated at 50%. Our windows seem pre- tinted therefore even 50% would put me over the limit. Opinions?

FrankW 04-23-2009 08:16 PM

i went 30 all around.

Ron Jr 04-24-2009 07:41 AM

50% front 35% rear I didn't want hassles from the police.

AMGTTV8 04-24-2009 07:48 AM

just go 35 all the way around...anything less is really not worth the money - you won't be achieving anything.

I went 35% on the front sides and 20% on the rear sides and back window. Works well in this sun laden land of Las Vegas and also looks good per my pics on the pic thread.

I'm in the same boat. Even doing the lightest film I can find still puts me over the legal limit here. I suppose it's fine because I don't want a dark tint so if I do it I'll probably do the 50% all around. Not really a fan of mixed tints on sedans.

I think 35% is the limit on front windows in Nevada, but I can not really tell any difference when looking at the car the 15% difference from the back and rear window.

Like interior and exterior color selection, it is all a matter of personal taste...:-)

aowhaus 04-24-2009 03:43 PM

The legal limit here in Colorado is 30% which is what I went with.
I wanted to go a little darker (20%), but I didn't want to take that risk.

I'm not a fan of having a difference in tinting between the front doors and rear doors, unless you went with a 30%/20% where the difference in darkness is not as noticable.

FrankW 04-24-2009 04:01 PM

you can go darker tint on a lighter color interior btw. it won't look as dark as those with dark color interior.

I agree with Frank. 35% on my black interior looks plenty dark, but on my friend's grey interior it looks light.

Mine is 35/20 and I really cannot see any major difference like I had on my GL with privacy glass on the back side windows.

You're right, I can't really tell a difference between the front or back. :y

here in mn, since the max tint if pretty high, you see a fair number of cars with light-medium tint on the front doors and limo tint on the rears. I don't mind it on my SUV, but sedans with such obvious differences in the tint just don't look right to me. Yours looks very nice though!

Thanks... I am going to try and shoot a pic from inside as well as a few outside and see if the difference is noticeable.

Tint is very hard to capture in a picture, lots of things can have an effect on how it looks, here is mine with 25% all the way around and it looks darker than your 20%

go figure

and in this one it looks almost pitch black....

Yeah...sun angle has a lot to do with it. Also, processing of the image can effect it also... I strive for deep blacks on the paint finish which can tilt the windows apparent appearance.

Nice shots of a beautiful car...!

GateKeeper 04-24-2009 10:43 PM

Thanks, I like yours as well, just didn't want to go to another black car,,,,lol,,,,,I was close....

I have more pics, but was looking for ones that showed off the tint the best....

Cheers

len56 04-24-2009 11:01 PM

the black car is classy, and the white is p.i.m.p.

I'm doing white, but I love both. I think these are the only colors that really fit the car.

peabers 04-26-2009 09:27 AM

Just got my tint done at FX Auto in Markham. Formula One Pinnacle Series 35% front and rear.

Sorry but it has been raining so can't get any good sunlight pictures yet.

Looks great... hardly ever see a rainy day like that down here in the desert...:-)

Mr Enigma 04-26-2009 01:02 PM

Has anyone got pictures of a 50% tint all round on a black car that they would like to share?

cr1t1icalm4ss 04-26-2009 01:08 PM

Mine is limo (charcoal) all the way around, and also in the front window 6" strip. I never get bothered, but I do live in AZ. Its on a Steel Grey C, looks very nice.
