It's in the maintenance manual:

If your dealer is one-upping competitor coupons...

The one on the left seems like a good one since it can be used for parts too.

Might be time to fix both my foglights or finally get my bike out of the trunk and on a roof rack...

Does anyone have any true comparissons for the A and B service?

I ask the question because. I just took in our C Class, and wanted to do the B service but not the Cabin Filter (as was suggested by the service tech the last time the car was in)

I was told that I was going to have a V/B service, or VALUE service. I really only wanted the B service sans cabin filter, which really amounts to being an A service it would appear. I chose the standard B service.

From a number of the posts here and a number of the online service offering posts, the B service should include the cabin filter R&R AND it seems it should include the BRAKE FLUID flush. Well, I was charged for a B service (349$ - 50$ coupon) AND I was charge 135$ for the brake system bleed and flush. Somehow, that doesn't really make too much sense. It would seem that the legacy B service really should include the Cabin Filter replacement AND it seems to have historically at least included the Brake System flush and fluid replace as per Mercedes Benz specs.

Any details or thoughts?

Here is what it breaks down to.. are you mechanically inclined to change the cabin filter, or is the money not really an issue for your wallet. The A service is all you need if you need an A/B service, and one should CHECK the cabin filter to see if its dirty, or if you can shake it out, just shaking it out will restore them to 68% efficiency for a little bit.

The air filters, at least on my car were pretty easy, but the cabin filter, although there is a DIY, looks like it can present some issues and be a PITA.. so it really comes down to can you follow the DIY's posted and change your own cabin filter, learn a little bit about your own car, do some work yourself, and save some coin.

Been trying to find a good deal for Los Angeles A and B services. I called up a few indy shops and they didn't seem like that great of a deal.

I ended up asking if Beverly Hills would match Anaheim's $149 coupon, they are already close at $169 for their special. Service manager this morning I guess approved it. It's not the $99 or $109 deals I got last year.. but seems to be competitive with the rising prises of labor and oil.

Also with the rental and a decent car wash, and having a dealer service the car versus joe schmoe MB mechanic.

Santa Monica wanted like $199.. crazy.. I'm guessing most MB drivers have the money and don't care..

Ask your respective dealers' parts & service departments whether or not they honor Mercedes Benz Club of America discounts. MBCA offers a lot of nice membership discounts. At Park Place in Dallas, I receive a 10% discount on service, and am able to purchase parts at a DIYer discount (wholesale), as a North Texas Section member. YMMV, depending upon your location, but it's worth investigating what discounts your local chapters may offer. I also receive discounts on parts and service at Mercedes Benz of Plano. You can see the listing of national benefits at http://www.mbca.org/membership. I joined in February; my membership fee of $49.00 already paid off when I had Service A performed a couple of weeks ago and purchased some accessories.

Another nice national benefit is $1,000 off the purchase of your next Mercedes, once you have been a member in good standing for 12 months. Not too shabby, IMO.

ADDED: The full list of member benefits is only visible to logged in members, and local chapter benefits are separate and independent of national benefits. If you decide to join online, your membership number is immediately assigned; I received my membership card in about a week. Feel free to ask if you have questions about national benefits. DISCLAIMER: I do not work for MBCA; just sharing info as it seems that quite a few MB owners are unaware of MBCA or its benefits.

Only difference in A/B is the cabin filter.. have them price match an A for $149 or so and check the filter yourself, if you need one, they are under $30 from most major sites.

My private mechanic popped off the filter and checked it in 2minutes and my filter was fine, didn't even need it.. dealer would of probably changed it no matter what.
