I just traded my 05 C230 and while it was a kick to drive, it also had FOUR separate oil leaks.

Just got a 09 C300 Sport, so hopefully expensive (CPO warranty, thank goodness) repairs are a thing of the past.

This is quite surprising really. For those of you that haven't been here awhile, scroll back through the posts and you will see the 2008 (launched in 2007) w204's had lots of problems when they were first introduced. Mine is included in the problem department, but its been pretty much faultless since then. Looks like they may have worked out all the launch problems in the new cars, although I still wish they would address the most common problem of broken fog lights on the Sport models.

52,000 on my 09 C300 (in 14 months) with only tires and brakes. One caliper was slightly leaking (replaced under warranty) and the COMAND dial stopped working and was also replaced. Other than that, the car still looks, feels and runs like new.

Not likely since the first year W203 in the US was 2001. The M112 V-6 was not what made the first three years of the W203 such a nightmare. After six years plus in my 2001 C320, the reliability of the W204 has been a pleasure.

What's not good is the drop in used value caused mainly by the dealers and MBUSA discounting their inventory so heavily. When I am able to order a W205 in 2013, I know I will take a terrible bath for my 2008.

Its not the dealers fault for deep discounts, its the consumer... its a super competitive market and everyone is shopping hard to save every penny available, I dont fault the consumer for this but dont blame MBUSA or the dealer network. People walk over something as small as 2-3 dollars a month on a purchase or lease contract. If you want to see resale go up, people need to buy cars with less incentives and at higher transaction prices but people feel that they need to squeeze every last penny out of a deal these days so the downward progression will continue for the time being.

Originally, I was planning on keeping my 08 C300 for 7 years then get something else. Here I am at year 3 and am satisfied enought that I'll probably keep it longer. Still one of the best looking cars on the road.

ADAC statistics are not reliable as a lot of breakdown service calls come in through Mercedes hotline and thus are not counted in ADAC statistic as per agreement with Mercedes. Same goes for the other premium manufacturers and all others that have their own breakdown service hotline.

I'm not buying it. When you look at all the unsold cars sitting on the dealer lots for the past three years, what do you see? A sea of grey, just like at the Honda stores. At my dealer, all of the orphan cars are, guess what, silver silver silver silver, black and the occasional white. And all with black Tex inside. And no options.

Nothing to catch the eye of a possible buyer and so they sit, month after month. So what happens? We've seen here the tales of thousands off the bare bones models just to get them gone and then there were the tales of 15 grand off C63s which is enough to cause a buyer who paid retail to jump off something very high.

These giveaway prices send a loud and clear message to those loyal MB owners who are regular customers (not the here today, gone tomorrow flavor of the month types) that MB doesn't give a damn anymore about repeat business.
