interior panel replacements

Hey guys I just got my very first MB - c300 4matic!

The interior panels on the doors and the center console is a smokey marbled gray color. I'd like to change them to aluminum - is there a way to order all the parts and do it yourself? Thanks for any advice...

Of course, any dealer should find these parts with ease, to replace the door trims you need to remove the door panel and loosen them from behind.

ever consider trading out parts with someone who would want your wood trims?

If that doesn't work, try ebay. I just saw some parts on there for trims (uk).

Great idea!!

I was hoping it was something I could do versus have the dealer do the work, I have a feeling they would charge a lot of labor for something like that.

Do you have any instructions on how to remove the door panel and trim properly? I'm scared to destroy any clips or whatever else is back there. Planning to do some DIY work there.

I agree with DIY, I wonder if it would be cheaper and just drop it off at the paint shop to paint it as metallic silver.

I saw where the Burl Walnut trim was a $350 option on the 300 so I called to see if there was a resonably priced kit to do the same. Seems like you have to buy them by the piece and I told the guy to stop looking after he read off several $300 to $400 prices per piece. Anyhow, if they can be interchaged pretty easily, I wouldn't mind a touch of wood to go with the silver and black.

Are the panels held on with simple clips or do you have to remove the main panels and unscrew/unbolt from behind?

You need to remove the door panels and the trims are fastened with nuts from the inside.

Theres a expander clip behind the door frame panel in the upper right corner of the panel (behind the outer handle) then loosen two screws under the arm rest.
Then using a wedge pry out the panelling until the clips around the edges snap out.

No, that's all stock. Was taken from when I was wrapping my trim pieces in CF.

Hey Azn_C300.

Do you have the HK system installed?

If yes, I'm a little surprised at the quality of the bass driver.

Thanks.

I have the burl walnut and would be willing to trade. Could you post some pics of it please? I just want to see what it looks like first, but I'm sure it is exactly what I'm looking for. I have an arctic white one with the light grey leather/black option...so to me the walnut doesn't really go, but the silver aluminum would be better...
