ordering a w204

when ordering a new merc, are your rates locked in on the date of ordering - or -
do you take the new rates when the car arrives?

basically if i order a new car today, are my rates locked in on junes rates or will they change depending on when the new car arrives?

you have the option to negotiate the price at anytime. your price is not locked in until you sign bill of sale.

as an example, i negotiated the price before i factory ordered the vehicle. while the vehicle was still in production, i re-negotiated a lower price. when the vehicle was in shipment, i re-negotiated again. and finally, right before taking delivery of the vehicle, i made one last re-negotiation. in all instances, i was able to luckily negotiate a lower price at each time.

gotcha. so basically sounds like the residual changed for the better between the time you ordered your car and the time you took delivery.

i am a bit worried to order one with the rates as good as they are now. it all may change before i take delivery.

are you talking about finance rate or price of car?

if you're speaking about the price of the car, your price will be "locked in" at the time that you order the vehicle. that is, they won't raise the [mutually agreed] price but you'll still be able to negotiate the price down.

ok.

i was talking about the finance rate(money factor, residual). that will affect the price of the lease.

right now the rates are very good for june.

ah.. no, most banks will only go by the market value rate at the time of purchase. however, there are some credit unions that will lock the rate for you (as my CU offered me). so might wanna inquire with your CU.

with the dismal car market as it is currently, i wouldn't be surprised if MBZ extended their 1.9% financing for another year or two. you should consider this as well as trying to lock in the lowest rate as a backup, and then compare again when your vehicle gets delivered.

good luck !
