CLK not as dead as we thought
I posted this on the CLK forum.
My June 18 copy of Auto Motor und Sport arrived the other day and what do I see on the cover but the 2011 CLK and the facelifted W204 C-Class. It has the revised C-Class nose on a 2-door coupe body with the tail end of the sedan. It does not resemble the new E coupe and does not have that pointy side window, luckily. The rear view shows the emblem CLK on the left with nothing on the right.
Further, my August copy of CAR from the UK arrived yesterday and it also mentions the '11 CLK. Here's what they say:
"There may be a recession on, but Mercedes still can't kick the habit of endless model proliferation. So the CLK-replaced by this years E-Class Coupe-will come back from the dead in 2011. Yup. like the E-Class Coupe, it's a 2-door four seat coupe based on the C-Class. Unlike the E-Class Coupe, it doesn't get a bespoke body and interior, merely two fewer doors on the facelifted C-Class sedan, due around the same time. Don't expect full-fat engines, to avoid the cheaper car stealing E-Class coupe sales."
Keeping in mind that this is a UK magazine, only part of the following would apply to the US, assuming the car comes here.
"You'll get a diesel four (224hp), a new direct injection 2.0 liter turbo gas,(204 and 238HP) a new flagship V6 turbo (333hp) and an uprated V6 diesel (252hp). The five speed auto disappears for good, stop/start is standard, and a pair of plug-in hybrids should be ready by late 2012. If buyers like it, Mercedes could add a convertible within nine months."

C facelift
The magazine picture of the headlight assembly is different. The shape is the same but the light arrangement differs. The turn light seems to be brought forward and has two slats across it. There appears to be a full width array of LEDS across the bottom. Not DRLs since those are in the former fog light position.
No interior or rear pix.

it's aite... our C's are much more aggressive in the front... and even the over all stance... front headlights look cool... and seems like there will be a audi like led strip... IF these are legit pics.
edit: seems like this is just someone's photoshopped idea... nvm.

The images have the now old-style mirrors. Does that mean that his might have been an idea once upon a time that was discarded? I'd think that a new car would have the new standardized mirrors.

The pictures in Auto Motor und Sport (from Stuttgart, in German) show a different configuration. The AMS photos show the new style mirrors, a Sport grille (current version) and the sedan taillights. There is also something funny about the roofline and the side window shape in today's posted pics.
Those taillights look like some current frumpy Nissan.
From my experience, reading AMS for a long time, they are almost always correct with their advance specs and photos.
