hood not latching correctly

anyone else have this problem??

when I open my engine hood...and then try to close it...it takes at least 3 or 4 SLAMS to get it to latch right....it always ends up with the drivers side of the hood sticking up, not latched.

ive tried adjusting the rubber adjusters, but nothing has helped. any suggestions?? its very annoying, as i have already made a very minor dent in my hood trying to slam it.

I have the same problem that the passenger side of the hood won't latch after closing it. I even had the dealer adjusted it and it's still the same.

This is a known item about the C, with a known solution: raise the hood about 18 inches and SLAM it shut.

Lol I thought it was just me thats having this same issue but I guess Im not alone. haha.. yeah agree with jstaneff... I've tried adjusting numerous times to no avail... Only way is to raise up high enough and then give a little more power to slam it shut... works everytime..

My 09 C350 is made in South Africa, wonder if this hood problem has anything to do with that...

Soon after purchasing my new C350, many people were driving close to me making funny gestures. I thought they were crazy and kept driving. But, it kept happening a lot; so I finally stopped to listen. Yup, my Hood wasn't latching.

The hood appears to have three latches, one on each end & the center latch. The passenger's side of the latch was the one causing the problem. It took two visits to Mercedes to solve the problem; it's fine now.

If you're experiencing this problem; find out which side isn't latching; then, use some force with two hands to slam the hood shut.
