Passenger window

My passenger front window will not go up automatically with the one touch anymore. I can manually close it however if I hold the button a little too long the window will open back up about 1/4". I'll bring it in however just wondering if anyone has had this issue.

Lift your passenger window all the way up (using the passenger-side door switch) and hold the switch at the very top for approximately 5 seconds.

This should reset the window and restore your auto up/down functions.

I never had this happen, but I had an issue with the driver window where every time I put the window up it would come down about a half inch. So weird, because it's a 2008, and I just bought it from carmax like a week ago. It hasn't happened again. I was probably doing something wrong, but if I run into this again I will do the window reset like silver_metallic suggested. I probably did the reset without knowing, and that's why I don't have the problem anymore.

Has anybody else experienced this?

Amazing this also happens on a 2008 car, and not exclusive to older cars like mine. What did the dealer say at your end?.....just want to compare their diagnosis.

I haven't brought it up to the dealer yet? Did this happen to you? What did your dealer say about it? Anybody else ran into this problem?

Dealer said change the DCM (door control module) and CAN (control area network). I turned to 3 indy's whose mindset is all such that they won't think any culprits other than the mechanical parts - change the switch, the rail, the motor, add lubricants.

Thanks, this worked perfectly and saved me a trip to the dealer, which is a pain at best. This happened after I had my windows tinted so I guess the tinters screwed it up.

They didn't have anything to do with it. It's been a loved MB failure feature for years. The reset instructions are in your manual which also works for the sunroof.

My 2001 C320 did the same thing periodically.

I don't know how many times of reset I have done and it keeps coming back. Been trying reset at key pos 2, door open and pos 3, door closed and pulling off battery and it is only a difference of 3 hours or 3 days or 3 weeks before the loss of resync popping up again.

Every time I was going to go to the dealer, I found the resync function was open to accept resync again, (usually while engine is hot this function doesn't work) so I resync'd and window returns to normal and I aborted trip to dealer. But then quickly this loss of resync returns, without a pattern as to how long it stays good, and when it does.

My pleasure.

What will really blow your mind is when the dealer charges you $50 to diagnose and perform the resynchronization (Don't ask how I know this).

Could anybody explain why it keeps coming back... moving 1 inch up/down when being opened/closed, or moving only inch by inch at first detent... and it needs keeping resync'd?

This has been bugging the **** out of me this week, and I'm glad I found it on here. Hopefully this saves me a trip to the dealership.
