Missing part

Hey guys it appears that some lowlife stole a part of my hood grill on my 2009 C300 SPORT. Im trying to locate this part at the dealer and need a part number. Its the piece that is located between the bottom of the hood grill and the top of the bumper cover. Anyone familiar with this part and is it color matched? My car is white. Thanks!

Can you take a picture of the area you are referring to?

Here is the pic. I spoke to the Parts dept and they said that this piece is actually part of the grill and that I would have to order the entire grill ($260.00!!!!). They also said that there is a possibility that the service dept may cover this under the MB warranty. Any thoughts?

It's hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like it is just pushed in. That grille is damn hard to disassemble, especially while it's on the car. Maybe the jerk-off tried to steal it and gave up. If you do need a new grille, wait for a member to sell one or try ebay. You can get them for 1/2 of the dealer cost. There are even some nice aftermarket options.

That piece is definately not pushed in, it appears it either was stolen or just came loose while driving. The bumper cover foam is exposed

Honestly, without closer pics, I'm with Derspeed on this. I have two grilles that I regularly swap back and forth so intimately familiar with the construction. It looks like it's just pushed in. If dealer said it's part of the grille, then nothing is missing from that pic. It's a one piece with the chrome parts still attached. You can't remove the grille without popping the hood or just breaking the swing knobs on the side. Like I said, from just that picture alone, you should be able to pull the bottom back and clip the bottom back in.

Unless you're talking about them stealing something from behind the bumper by reaching in, but then, that's not a part of the grille and there's really nothing there to grab.

yea, im looking at your picture and then looking at mine and it just looks like the grill is pushed in. maybe someone with a high tow hitch or somehting smashed into your grill and pushed it back. there is no "bottom" piece to the grill. try removing the grill and placing it back on.

or maybe some A hole karate kicked the star in!

Look at Derspeed's pic and then Gizmo's. There is not another part in there. Looks like someone may have simply shoved your grill in and popped the holding clips. If you are lucky, you may be able to snap things back together...if not, I second the ebay route for replacement.

By the looks of it I think someone has hit your car, the bumper is really soft and is made to give, the bumper have flexed inwards causing the lower tabs holding the grill to come loose.

If your lucky you can just pull the grill back in place, but if I were you I would inspect closer for further damages..

Thanks for all your help. You guys were absolutely right, it appeared that someone backed into my grill and pushed it in. So I pulled the clips back into the slots and now all is good!!! However the hood is kind of difficult to shut. I have to slam it with some decent amount of force for it to lock
